Your son getting a shitty deal doesn’t give any parent justification to publicly smear multiple people and organizations in search of money.

I would have absolutely no issue if Kelly or the surgeon hit Brooks Sr with a defamation suit. It won’t happen, but he deserves it for what he’s doing right now. The suit was bad enough, but this press tour he’s dragging his son on is a fricking embarrassment.

No sir, I wouldn’t. I have been injured on the job several times through my career and didn’t sue my employer. I don’t believe in trying to get a quick check through frivolous

If my son had brain cancer and his coaches spent a
month telling he he would lose a starting spot and to take the vertigo medication I would probably be mad.

I would be very mad.

Right or wrong, I would be mad.

I dont think they have the strongest case, and i as a professional i don’t know if the duty of a football coach requires them to get an cat scan within 40 days when a player reports reports symptoms like that. but their sons life is changed forever and i won’t judge was another man does in a situation like that.

If this kid were just a regular student, this responsibility would fall on he and his parents.

Why does it suddenly shift to the football coach just because he happens to play football?

I doubt many of our employers would do as much for us as LSU did for Greg, should we face the same situation.

I feel like everyone skips the part where i say I don’t think they have a good legal case.

right there in my post. that’s being very generous to their case.

My point was really I am not going to act rationally when it comes to my kid.

I'm talking about the part where you said you'd be angry. Why be angry?

It seems like LSU football did a lot for the kid, the Brooks family would have had to face all of that on their own otherwise.

because life is unfair and my son had brain cancer

I’d be angry at everyone.

and i think that’s not a logical reaction but I understand it.

I mean I get that but it's unfortunate that they chose to trash a large community of people who were trying to help.

I said in another thread.

this is a PR move. it’s to push LSU to settle to avoid bad PR.

It’s not the kinda cases i work, but I imagine this kid is going to need serious care for a long time.

I have integrity. I wouldn't have done that.

ETA: didn't LSU create a fund just for Greg's recovery? Seems like they already were helping.

Solely from a legal standpoint they don’t have a case?

Do you know that to be true? If they end up settling out of court with LSU and OLOL would you still say they got bad legal advice?

And common sense says it would be WAY more beneficial from a personal and financial standpoint to work with LSU and not alienate the university and football program with a lawsuit.

What makes you think this? Do you think LSU would continue to pay for all of his medical needs for forever?

It makes sense to me why Brooks and family did this, it almost forces LSU to settle because they look bad no matter what.

Might be required to file suit to support an insurance claim, but that doesn't explain the badmouthing.

Agreed. The GMA interview is a whole other conversation that I don’t really have an opinion on because we don’t know all of the facts, timeline, etc.

I guarantee you Kelly, the training staff and a team doctor was seeing him more than his dad. And at 22, I wasnt calling my dad every day.

My son was 23 and went through something serious. Obviously, not as serious as what Greg went through, but some medical concerns. I was the first person he talked to and I made sure he had good medical care. I was supporting him at least mentally during the diagnosis and treatment process. It’s not that strange when a young man is 23 and having some possible medical issues to talk to their parents for support.

Absolutely, he can’t distinguish between a possible medical condition and just hanging out with friends everyday. You can bet my parents would at least be aware I was having an issue.
