We still haven't hired anyone to replace Dennis Llinas. I was hoping that LSU would do a nationwide search for a new director, but it looks like they're keeping Kelvin Jones, at least for a while.
Todd Queen and Damon Talley are the problem, at least from what I've heard.
That said, Tiger Band was nothing short of fantastic during the CFP games. They literally blew the OU band out of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and were great again in the NC game.

There's a thread by someone who recently heard Woodward speak. The poster said that Burrow wanted the band to play Neck during the A&M game. Woodward gave the ok, but Damon Talley said no.

That's funny. The only people who know they exist are football fans. They are badass because they are the band for the LSU football team and that's it.

I consider it on par with rap music, just vulgar to be vulgar. LSU can do better...

It's not worth the trouble.
Suck my tiger dick.

From the Damon Talley Bio, "Damon Talley serves as Director of Bands...at Louisiana State University School of Music, where he oversees all aspects of the LSU Department of Bands..."
I think it is pretty clear this guy is the problem, if he is not the one saying "No" to Woodward than who is? Others seem to be confirming that he is a problem as well.
Change happens when enough people make noise and this is what we need to do. Think of the heat Joe Alleva received from the greater TigerDroppings world, I guarantee it had an affect on his retention.
This guy Talley is either not a true Tiger Fan or he doesn't know how to leverage his position to best help the product on the field and the fans in the seats, neither are acceptable scenarios.

Nah, they’re relatively good & so is the traditional stuff they play. We’re all here for football, but tiger band slaps.

WRONG.....Director of BANDS = all bands (including the athletic bands). Read his bio moron.

I have heard for years that FKing protected and even changed things involving TGBTL to allow Talley more power over it. FKing is gone(thank God). Cut Talley's nuts!

The subset of ranters who get butthurt about this song because they think LSU, or any SEC school for that matter, has some sort of class kill me.
It’s amateur football. Let the people be amateur.

The SEC issues a hefty fine any time it’s played.
WRONG
WRONG
WRONG
Even "IF" there was a fine, Woodward has (by telling the band to play it) has agreed to pay the fine.

Only a dumbarse X-jock would utter something so stupid. When football is floundering, the band has been famous "in spite of" football. The band was on campus BEFORE football.

We have a bunch of soi boi, pencil neck, cucks making that decision.

Right. It was widely reported that during his first year at LSU, he (Talley) called the band, "the laughing stock of the country." He also said, "the Tiger Band was "underworked" and "overpaid." He is a POS.

Talley is a douche bag about it too. We went and watched them practice at Pan Am and he yelled at them to get ready to play “Coda Neck.” It’s just a mash up of Coda Fight that they always play after a touchdown that starts with the drums and horn beginning part of Neck.
The crowd heard the Neck drums and started cheering and when it went into Coda Fight, Talley was cracking up on the ladder.

This is a post I submitted last year when they appointed Kelvin as director. It's worth another look. Remember, Talley reviewed Kelvin's previous work as a band director (see below), and hired him.
This is the band he directed before coming to LSU (please watch these).

THIS is what Talley and the school of music wanted as the DIRECTOR of Tiger Band!
Makes me sick.

What about the women and children in the stands?
Are they doomed to hear rap like vulgarity at a football game?
There's a time and place for that shite, but blaring out in a statium packed with folks who don't really care to hear that is another matter.
I'd like to think we're still a somewhat civilized society where if you want to hear that shite, so be it.
But amping it up in front of families, etc..is in bad taste.
