Feel like it’s a combo Scott can make excuses but we weren’t ready for NIL in football and Austin Thomas seems to be a waste of a position. I also think BK has a bit of dabo toward NIL

BK seems like the kid at the fair with the whack-a-mole hammer trying to plug holes and when one closes, another opens. I don't think he's proactive and engaged enough to keep up in today's game. As was proven today, there's no such thing as a "shutdown" recruitment until the pen hits the paper and the kid gets on campus.
BK is getting undercut at every turn because he's slow to react. It took him a year plus more than other top coaches to realize that the portal has to be made a priority and not treated as an unfortunate obligation.

All of these would be great signings. Are any of them ready to come in and play immediately?

You think the players are stupid? That's not how this works. You pay MORE for portal players because they are proven and that makes universities even more desperate.
And Pickett is not signing with LSU so they will be 0-2 with their big needs at CB.

When the coach explicitly states that they’re focused on the Transfer Portal this year, what exactly do you expect to happen with guys that haven’t made an impact after multiple years on the team?
You guys are going to melt hard tomorrow, but I’d at least try to save it until the end of the early transfer window. If we miss out at that time, then we have reasons to melt.

I’d rather pay money to a proven portal player than gambling on a high school recruit.

It does not matter what you feel. You have to build from both. You can't just pick one and build from it. You need elite HS and portal players. If you lean too heavy on the portal you end up like Florida State and soon to be Ole Miss.

JaKeem would be a transfer from Florida. He’s a day one starter. He was recruited by Raymond at Florida and was number 40 in the 2023 class. He started 11 games his freshman year, two this year then got injured.
I just don’t know about any of these incoming freshman. As usual some will surprise, some will disappoint and some will play as expected.

They've mostly been a bust too. A lot of the top end guys have already transferred and there's very few big names you can say from those 2 classes who have made an impact on LSU's roster. LSU's HS recruiting has been bad the past 6 years or so. Way subpar than what it usually was.

Nobody following college football considers Breaux, Stamps, Durham, Parker, Woodland, Spears, Keys, Green, Pimpton, McKinley, or Reliford busts 
The list goes on as well. LSU doesn’t have the money to buy both. What do you expect them to do? Quit the league?
