That's all fine and dandy. But like the OP stated, the offense gave us a 19-14 lead midway through the 4th quarter. At that point, it's on the defense to hold.

Same thing happened the end of the 1st half. We had a 10-7 lead with what, 4 minutes to go? If the defense is as incredible as people tout it to be, it has to hold.

That's the difference between winning this game 20-7, and losing the way we did

So......
What you are saying is that if the offense scores 10 points (in 2018 football) any loss is on the defense?

Basically if the D gives up more than one score they failed?

That’s a ridiculous standard in today’s college football.

The defense was not perfect by any means yesterday. But damn at what point will LSUs offense step up and bail out the defense for once.

he game was FULL of stoppages, it’s not like they were HUNH.

It was normal football, we just couldn’t tackle - and that kept them on the field.

Why was our defense gassed is the question? Their defense was on the field just as long as ours was.

Aranda had his players in the Florida backfield the whole game not just the second half when LSU kept not making tackles to stop drives. Mullen did not out scheme Aranda.

Aranda isn't a god. He can be outschemed.

Although give him the reins to the entire program and I think those odds go down. As it is he only has control over one aspect of the team.

This argument could go on both ways forever. When you drive the field and score with 5 minutes left in the game, the defense should be able to stop a drive.

This is what a lot of games come down to. Both sides have to execute in the 4th quarter when it matters

LSU's offense and Ensminger did their part, Aranda didn't.

By "doing their part," what do you mean exactly? 19 pts? Three turnovers? Less than 200 rushing yards? Less than 200 passing yards?

Or do you just not want to admit that O's hand picked OC isn't getting it done?

I would say taking the lead with 6 minutes left in the game is doing their part. Should they have scored more? Sure. But they reclaimed the lead late in the 4th only to have the defense give it up.

Wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!

LSUs defense held Fla to 15 points below their average

LSUs offense scored 15 points below its own avg

's going to be ugly vs Jimbo. They have the game circled on calendar. Their mindelset is it if they lose out and demolish LSU the season is a success. Jimbo is going to go in dry with the way King and Alleva botched things up and Moffits Twitter rant. Moffit should have been fired immediately after that outburst

Well don't get so giddy over it. You've obviously thought this out and fantasized over it. So fricking pathetic.

The defense played well enough to win. Our best pass rusher is out for the season.

We can fuss and whine about who did what, and how the offense didn't perform, and how the defense overall held it's own.

Point being, we went up 19-14 with about 8 minutes to go. Like it or not, THAT'S on the defense to hold.

Similarly, we were down 20-19, had the ball and one of the best FG kickers in the game, with 3+ minutes to go. THAT'S on the OFFENSE to move the ball 45-50 yds by any means possible, to get into field goal range.

We're talking about a game on the road that we had every opportunity to win. A Top 5 team would have produced the goods. We are not a Top 5 team, plain and simple.

Now, we have the opportunity to do the same thing to Georgia. Let's see if LSU can put forth the same effort Fla did to us, and let's see if UGA can push through adversity on the road.

19 points is not good enough to win an SEC road game most times.

Fricking Bama couldn't hold Arkansas to 19 points.

Arkansas couldn't hold Alabama under 40 in the first half.

I feel fairly confident that if Bama was sitting on only 20 pts or so, Arkansas doesn't sniff 14 for the game.

It's really not that foreign a concept. We used to routinely hold teams under 20, when we NEEDED to. That's the level we should be striving to get back to.
We have studs at every level of the defense. Couple of sure 1st rd guys on the D, a few more that should be right there.

True, and when you lose your star DE in the first game's garbage time for the season, it also leads to these kind of issues.
