re: Every day we get further away from Brian Kelly it's clearer he was a terrible fit for LSU

I don't think he's a great fit anywhere except maybe Grand Valley State, wonder if they'd take him back or if he's burned down those bridges too.

And as a result of the poor contract, hopefully we have a better structured contract rewarding good coaching moving forward

I'd be thrilled to never hear this phrase in this context again. He didn't win enough. That's literally it.

“Terrible fit” is the buzz word that everyone always circled back to. Reminds me of “we live in unprecedented times” from Covid news cycles.

Makes me cringe every time I hear it

And the fact that you don't hear his name mentioned for any of the openings is very telling.

Being an irresponsible a-hole is usually a bad fit for any team

"Fit"? What the helll does that mean? Some of his staff hires were bad and many of his NIL/portal decisions were REALLY bad.

Probably one of the best posts I’ve read in quite some time and an excellent take on Saban. Bryan Kelly had one major problem. If he would have won, no one would have been talking about his poor fit. Winning covers everything. Kelly was lazy. I don’t care what business you’re in, the one thing you had better not be is lazy. I’m an older man myself, and in my experience, you better not give an older man a whole lot of money. They will start to contemplate why they are still working, especially if there is no caveat with regard to their pay. It was just the perfect storm. No one could read what was in his heart. How would we ever know that nothing was there. He became a bum.

Likewise. Who knew the guy didn’t like to work?! It’s kinda fitting how it ends….that we missed out on a playoff run because we had no defense one year. Now we miss out on a playoff run because we have no offense.

did not like it from the git-go but I attributed it to my lifelong disgust with anything that had ND taint on it.

During the first few months I became a little less miserable with the talk about his establishing more of what I interpreted as a 'businesslike' approach - certainly something missing from the ogeroin years.

Nothing that happened afterwards - except for the Alabama victory - ever took the disdain out of my mouth.

will be glad when this episode is done - hoping for the better, if not the best

Brian Kelly walked into the LSU program with incredible resources and still was average at best. Now that he’s gone it’s public how he turned his back on former players. Current players didn’t even have a relationship with him. The guy fooled everyone and it’s a shame we let that loser stay as long as he did.

Kelly was a bad hire and given a ridiculous contract by Woodward. I'm not so sure it was a cultural issue with Kelly. It was more a matter of being so overpaid that there was no motivation to work hard. Kelly was a low character guy who took advantage of LSU.

don't even think it was that. I think it was more of a lack of forward thinking.
This was my takeaway from the BK experiment as well. He was very reactive. He would take action, but he would wait until something was already on fire.

I’m honestly shocked at how he was able to have success at his previous stops running things like that… unless he just developed that habit here.

I also feel like he thought he could be more hands off and delegate more than he should have, which nothing is wrong with the CEO model if you have good coordinators but you still need to be involved with these players in the sec. The type of athlete you recruit to LSU probably needs more babysitting than the type you recruit to ND or Cincy.

I thought BK was a great hire and after 2022 we all did. Yeah he fricked us good in the end.

I don’t think it was a fit thing
He didn’t want to work as hard
Make relationships with high school coaches
Relations with former players

It just boils down to a work ethic

It has nothing to do with fit. He’s not a top level coach here or anywhere. I’m sick of the word fit.
