I was not a fan of Gainesville tailgating, but they have a decent night scene or so I've been told. Do not cross a street with booze. Do not let cops see you with booze. Its very different than BR.

Yep. It was louder than Tiger Stadium then (this was before the expansion).

I've been to about 10 or 11 games there (most of them lopsided losses for us. The pregame/tail gate atmosphere is lousy. The fans are worse. I do not like Gator fans in general. I have lots of friends that happen to be Gator fans but they are the exception (in most cases! ) But overall they are not hospitable, do not offer food, and take themselves way too seriously. Its a good atmosphere in the Stadium in terms of noise and passion but don't expect to be treated well at all, esp. if we win.
Also regarding loudness compared to T.S., it is comparable but I would not say louder overall. In fact certain individual games at T.S. that I've attended were way louder, but it does depend on the team. Many of the games in the 90's were blowouts so in that way not a fair comparison.

I've said this before - but next to LSU/GA 2003 - LSU/FL 2006 was the loudest game I've ever been to. The Swamp is loud.

I guess you could really confuse them by wearing jorts & a mullet while in purple & gold.

I assume the OP is looking college bars, just letting him know there is no Tigerland there. I like both of those places but they are restaurants that double as bars during game weekends. And the prices reflect that.

If a UF fan tosses you a beer, and you are on the side walk on that front street - just watch it hit the ground. Saw cops writing tickets to LSU fans drinking beer walking down the sidewalk.

Forgot about the jorts. Lots of jorts.
It's a long drive and it's good to go, but I just don't enjoy the game day experience enough to warrant that long of a drive anymore.

No. I didn't really see scooters on campus while I was in school and they aren't allowed in campus on game days.
At UF they are as common as bicycles.

I went to school in Gainesville and lived there for a year. I actually hate the Gators. I was there for a graduate degee and UF was the only place that offered it. If you get in the right crowd, there are a lot of hot girls and partying. Game day atmosphere is nothing like LSU, and I mean in a bad way. There will be a lot of Florida fans tailgating around campus and the stadium. It fills up early and parking is a bitch. They are not friendly and probably will not offer you food or drinks. There should be a lot of LSU people there as well, because there are many former LA residents living in Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando who are LSU fans. A lot of fights break out between UF and opposing teams' fans, so be careful after the game, at least there was when I was there. However, the LSU game wll not be as hostile as the FSU and GA games. There is nightlife close to campus which is easy to find and also "downtown," but, in my opinion, nothing close to what you will find in Baton Rouge. When LSU plays in Gainesville, we usually stay in Tampa or Orlando and rent a limo or car to drive in for gameday and then leave after the game.
