Eugene is a crazy city. Downtown you've got people taking dumps on the sidewalk right next to restaurants, guys laying around with needles stuck in their arms, and people aimlessly walking around mumbling or yelling obscenities.

Then you get around campus and it's like any other college town - fairly clean, nice people, good bars, restaurants and shops. Two different worlds within a mile.

Check out Ninkasi Brewery and Mezza Luna Pizza.

Good luck!

I live in southern oregon. It’s sunny most of the year. Shouldn’t be letting out secrets of the Rogue Valley

Same thing in Baton Rouge, you don’t even have to go a mile north on highland just go a few blocks past Chimes and it’s another world. And I’m not complaining I love LSU and Baton Rouge but it is what it is

quote:

When I think of Oregon sports, the first name that comes to mind is Steve Prefontaine, who is still revered there.

My grandmother taught him English in high school. She thought he was an a-hole.

One time Pre and some of his friends got caught drinking. It was a big deal because everyone knew Pre was a big star.. My grandmother wanted him suspended and kicked of the track team - she was a strict disciplinarian.

The school principal took the approach that "boys will be boys" and gave them a lighter punishment of detention of some sort, because he didn't want to derail Pre's career. That caused a riff in his household because the principal was my grandfather...

If you're looking for a place to eat, try Bill & Tim's BBQ and tap house. The tri tip sandwich is amazing!
