Josh Pearson has played in 26 of the 29 games so far; he's started 20. In SEC play, he's played in 8 of 9. He's started more games (7) than Frey and Brown.
So again, he's only started about 2/3's of the games. Giving other guys opportunities. He's not a Curiel, Jones, Milam, etc every day starter was the point there. As the season goes along things always change if you pay attention. If Josh continues to struggle at the plate, he will play less and less. even in games he will move from 1 guy to the next at DH as pitchers change and move guys around at positions as well (Braswell sub for Reaves defensively late, etc). Plenty of times Josh has started in the OF or at DH he gets replaced as the game moves along for matchups as well. It's a dynamic thing. Frey has gotten at least 2 plate appearances in 7 of our 9 SEC games so far. He's playing.
Jay is never one to set on 1 2 or 3 lineups, he always constantly evolves it.

how important Pearson is to this team
Pearson is extremely important, as a leader and a glue guy. Doesn't mean he should be the primary DH

So we’re benching the guy hitting .333 in conference who 5th on the team in weighted runs created for the guy hitting .200 who is 11th in runs created in conference. Sounds smart
There’ve been a lot of “Bench Stanfield” snowflakes here the past couple of weeks. I don’t understand it.

Zero chance.
Their speeds are pretty close. Frey can fly for a big man.

In 4 seasons in SEC At Bats, Pearson is 61-269 (.226 batting average).

That isn't happening. Stanfield needs to stay in the lineup. But let's say he comes out (injury or slumping)... Curiel moves to CF, Pearson would move to LF, and Brown would stay in RF.
Oh but it will happen i think but Curiel will go to center not Brown. With a tough RH starting pitcher that we might face i think this could happen.

either Pearson or Brown in RF.
Lost in this conversation, what in the world happened to Ashton Larson?
It's like he forgot how to play baseball during the offseason.
Dude was one of our better hitters in SEC play last year.

Jay is down on him but he needs some ABs to get out the funk he's in

but his defenders will be out in full force either way claiming he’s clutch.
In all fairness, his coach pushes that he is clutch. Jay says it everytime he gets a chance to talk about Pearson. So don't be surprised a lot of fans do as well.
But your point is correct. Pearson has not hit the ball well this year and Frey has. If I'm coach Frey would be my everyday DH and I like the outfield continuing to be Curiel, Stanfield, and Brown.

why does the average CF at best need to be in the lineup everyday?

Some of you are so clueless.
Stanfield is hitting .333 in SEC play with 5 doubles in 9 games and straight from the coach who starts him at CF every game believes he is the best defensive outfielder we have. Whether or not you want to act like because he didnt run down a ball from 100 feet away that landed between 3 guys he's now "average" defensivelyt or not, the guy is a good defensive outfielder. On top of that, due to his speed, he puts a lot of extra pressure on opposing defenses due to said speed with bunt singles he runs out, stretching things first to third and second to home and even a tough double better than just about anyone else can on our roster. All that from a guy who bats 9th in the lineup at that.
But yeah, bench him!

Some people look at actual on the field play to determine he absolutely should be in Centerfield. Seeing as he’s played much better than Pearson halfway through the season.

I think you have to go Brown over Pearson in RF. Pearson had been too inconsistent.
But you’re only talking offense. I trust Pearson a lot more in the no-fly zone.
It’s not just Brown’s devastating drop to lose the regional, he’s been iffy this year too. Meanwhile Josh prevented UF from taking the title in 2 yet again.

An average CF shouldn't necessarily be in the lineup every day for a lot of teams. Stanfield is FAR from average, though. In what world do people think that Curiel-Brown-Pearson is better for the team than Stanfield-Curiel-Brown???

Curiel can get to the same balls that Stanfield has NOT gotten to. He is not in the realm of landry, duplantis, Laird, crews, or prolly a few more to name. He is black so he is an elite defender I assume

Pearson had a worse fielding percentage than Brown did last year and also doesn’t have as good of an arm. Not saying your analysis isn’t correct, but their fielding is much closer than people say on here.

yall are so obsessed with CWS Pearson its not even funny.
1. Joe Burrow
2. Honey Badger
3. Josh Pearson
Thats the goat list for LSU now.

Larson needs some summer/fall ball to get right. He still has a ton of potential I think he could do it. Unfortunately we can’t start sacrificing games to try to get him there this late in season
