After his death in 1988. Because that's just how LSU is (although Shaq appears to be an exception, and I'm not begrudging him anything). They waited until Cholly Mac died before naming the practice facility after him.

That's where I get that erroneous arse info from!
I don't give a shite if he was 30 times defensive first team. It's a stupid damn thing to say he is supposed to shut Maravich down because he's black.

Let's not mix apples and plutonium here. There was a question posed by someone in the thread to the effect of, "Would it have made a difference if Maravich would have been guarded by black players?"

Somehow thinking this was the 1950s. A number of examples were offered confirming, in fact, that Maravich was able to score on black defenders at LSU and in the pros, with a notable example given of arguably the best defensive guard, who also happened to be black, of the decade being on the receiving end of at least part of Maravich's record 68 points in an NBA game.

It only makes a difference because someone was apparently ignorant and curious, so we dropped some wisdom on him.

Does it make sense now, baw?

I'm pretty sure if my name were Peter Burns, I would go by "Pete". Just sayin'...

Honest question. How would having been guarded by black athletes affected his average?

It wouldn't

I have heard many old time black NBAers who played against him say he was probably the best they ever played against.

No, at best about 5-6 more a game I have shot charts on 4 games and most of his scoring comes inside the three point line. Pete loved the little 15 foot jump shot.

But that being said, had there been a three point line back then, he likely would have taken more three point shoots.

I'm all for social justice and equality and all. But this is just ignorant.

ESPN's Peter Burns is wrong. Unless 13 of Marvich's 16 made field goals per game came from behind the 3 point line.
