I concur that the Alabama-Florida game has been important over the last two or three seasons, but I wouldn't say it was the most pivotal rivalry of the DECADE.
They probably agree with you but don't care. Playing up the last few years sells more copies and brings in more advertising dollars.

I actually had a conversation with a friend a few weeks ago about what the most significant consistent matchup of the 2000's was and we came up with OU-Texas.
That would have been my choice as well.

Well there's no question that LSU-UF had better teams than TX-OU over the decade, but somehow most of the games didn't seem to have much at stake, except for 2006 & 2007. One team was always up while the other was down, so from an entertainment standpoint, LSU-AU was a much better series.

LSU-Florida,then LSU-Auburn in terms of SEC rivalries.
Putting 'Bama up there when they struggled for most of the decade is crazy.

UF Bama makes sense seeing how they didnt play for 40% of the decade

I read that story earlier and thought it failed. The number one rivalry didn't play 6 of the 10 years. That is just stupid.

He forgets to mention that we won the NC game in the '03 season in the LSU/UF rivalry
LSU lost though. Not sure how the rivalry really impacted the season if UF won but LSU still won the MNC

Bama - Florida topping the list is lame. A great 3 year rivalry when the parameter set was 10 years. And the last 2 years a combined final score of 65-19 or something like that. Every Florida LSU game in the decade meant something.

Also, Bama is on the list 3 times and didn't even matter until 2008.

What happened to the LSU vs the refs series in any game played within the state of Alabama, with HD tv or not? The refs had a decided edge.

LSU/Auburn did have an incredible run of very competitive games... but you probably sold LSU/Florida short on significance
03 - Florida upset keeps LSU from undisputed NC
05 - LSU comes back to beat Florida, Meyer in tears and concludes he needs to recruit better athletes at key positions
06 - awesome game, LSU 11-2, Florida later shocks OSU to win NC
07 - awesome game, LSU wins with 4th down conversions en route to NC
08 - Florida destroys LSU en route to more convincing NC than 06
10 - highly competitive game, Miles pulls out win to begin image rehab at LSU (post Ole Miss, PSU, UT endings)

As good as those 2 lsu rivalries have been, I think lsu-auburn has easily been better. Putting Florida-Alabama 1 is stupid. Would be like pitting lsu-georgia at 1

there has never been a game i wanted to win more than when florida came to LSU in 2007.. and i mean on a level of following all sports.. high school, college, pro..

LSU-Auburn not on that list is a joke. They probably just didn't want another SEC matchup on the list, even though it was much more relevant than half on that list.
