I hate when pundits claim player A was a reach and player b was a steal.. It's much like a houses worth, it may appraise for x but ain't worth shite until youve sold it.. Ridley as it turns out, had third round value

Kevin Faulk may have spoken up for him.

He can hang on the practice squad, if Ben Jarvis Green Ellis goes down, Ridley could step into his role.

What a terrible post. Faulk speaking up had zero to do with Stevan getting drafted.

Green-Ellis isn't even under contract and is looking for more money. Chances are he is gone. The Pats didn't take Stevan to put him on the practice squad.

Ridley only rushed for nearly 1200 yards and was abusive to D late in games.
his feet and vision are strengths. he doesn't run side to side. he will be a good 3.4-3.7 y/carry back in the nfl who will be able to handle ST and blocking for the QB.
he also has very good hands. All traits that NE likes - see K Faulk late in his career.

Ridley was projected as a 6th rounder, ran a 4.8 and you guys don't think he's a stretch in the 3rd?

So you are smarter than the Patriot's front office? And what would you be doing this morning without LSU fans to bash?

You have to listen to them though because of the number of players they put into the NFL.

It was a dumb pick considering the Pats took another RB earlier in Rd 2. They've got Faulk, Woodhead, Ridley and the other guy all at a minimum under contract going into next year. Green-Ellis is a RFA and should resign with the Pats so that's another guy. Ridley was also a reach in the 3rd rd.

Projected by the people that aren't employed by an actual NFL team.. Do you not see the fallacy in this mindset.. He was worth where he was drafted. Take Bowers.. Projected at one time as the top pick but in reality was only really worth a second rounder..The reasons why don't matter

Come on.. Faulk is probably done, Woodhead is the furthest thing from an everydown long term solution, Green-Ellis as a RFA is no guaranty.. The over running back drafted has a completely different style that Ridley. Ridley brings to them the meat grinder they love, if he can improve his blocking he will rotate nicely within their offense..

You can bet he was studied. Ridley is so smart, plus he has played many positions in HC. Do you remember the interview about his playing days in HC? He played every down in the little Trinity High School in Natchez. He is a winner, and will find a way to make the team. BETCHA!

woodhead? really? They have Green-ellis who they may lose. Don't think that they are not looking at this being a stop gap until the next draft and ridley replacing faulk.
Ridley will close out games. he is a hard runner. can't teach that. ask the Saints about the play of all plays that ended their season last year in Seattle.

My point is that he doesn't fumble.

After the UNC game, a win, all he could talk about is how broken up he was about the fumbles.

It is another trait Belichek would love.

Ridley a stretch ??? Give me a break !! Yea I thought Ridley would go in the 4 th round at best, and reviewed top six draft sites that had him ranked as high as the 13 th and low as the 25 th best RB (he was the 7 th taken) but ultimately who are the best to judge a player's value ?? Belichick is arguably the best coach and drafter in the NFL. Disagree with him ??? Yea, but comparing your opinion to him is a joke. Also, teams don't into their own little huddle and make their picks. Sure, coaches (and owners..Jerry Jones ???) look at their specfic needs, but go to mentors, to other coaches, and to other owners whom they have close relationships to (ie. worked under or with) and ask for their opinions, particular those outside their division. I bet the Pat's "think tank" got into their league "network" and bounced Ridley around . Would the Pat's have waited util the 4th to draft him if they could ?? Of course !! But many in their "network" thought he wouldn't be available because his value was so high. Now many Ranters would say that the Pat's were intentionally given bad advise. Remember, all (yes all) head coaches early in their careers have had long professional relationships and friendships with opposing coaches and trust their views. The Pat's took that info and drafted Ridley in the 3 rd. The humour is not that the Pat's made a mistke, but that us Ranters don't know sh*t !!!
