03 Cotton Bowl

Roy Williams was a man amongst boys that day. It got so bad Simms simply tossed him the ball on sweeps and he ran up and down the field.

LSU with no QB? 13-1 SEC Champs?

Yeah and outside of a bull shite situation usually the National Champs when you beat everyone on your schedule and finish with the nation's best record.

USC is only #1 because of the schedule and typical USC bias.

Also surprising Bama is so high after losing basically everyone that anchored their team. Well not surprising after what happened in the media last year.

What's funny, a friend of mine who is a big USC fan was asking me last year how our D could better after losing Peterson.

No, they are #1 because they have a lot of good players at skill positions, including their QB who put up numbers like Luck last year.

and typical USC bias

where was this USC bias in 2007? 2008?

Is it so hard for you believe that they might be good?

If USC is as advertised they should be unbeaten and rolling going into November where they'll face the only true test on their schedule in Oregon.

Barkley returning makes them a contender for a Pac-whatever number they are, title.

Did you know there are tons of teams with a much easier schedules who aren't sniffing the top 25?

You're entirely correct in stating there are unranked teams with weaker schedules than USC but the other poster was equally correct in pointing out the media bias towards the Trojans. ESPN is especially blatant with their USC rah rah commentators.

Only NBC's love of obama rivals ESPN's love of everything USC

That TV market is redonkulus. ESPN would have to hate money not to pimp USC. I completely get it.

That makes sense. However, I don't see them pimping UCLA to the same degree. It goes well beyond appealing to a market.

That's probably because ucla hasn't done anything of note in CF since a flukish 13-9 win over USC that knocked the Trojans out of the BCSCG. That was 6 years ago. Before that, the closest they got to glory was a loss to Miami in 1998 that kept them out of the BCS Championship mix.

It will be a year or two before they are ready to challenge USC for the PAC 12 South, but though it pains me to say it, they will improve (and have already) under Jim Mora Jr.

True. When I wrote my USC/UCLA comparison I realized UCLA's lack of recent success would be a valid point to make. I just don't think UCLA will ever receive the same degree of reverence USC receives from the likes of Musberger and Herbie regardless of success.

I can understand that pain but, come on, you have to admit having a meaningful game at the end of the year with your main rival would add something positive to your football season.

Trust me, it is meaningful each and every time we beat the everloving snot out of ucla, and I really don't give a damn how good they are. Nothing from last season gave me more satisfaction than blanking those fokkers 50 to 0. It was just an awesome feeling. Beating Oregon at home was nice, but beating the crap out of the bRuins like that was awesome.

I'm not assuming anything because talent doesn't equate to a team playing as a team but... it would be interesting to see if 2011 is repeated if ESPN would do the Bama pimp.
