There was very little about LSU in that segment. It was predominantly a trembling homage to Alabama. I take issue with the implication that Ohio State has a brighter future than LSU, but that is likely based on the relative reputations of Miles and Meyer.

You sure it has nothing to do with an easier schedule, conference, and the fact they are a media darling already?

It's a projected power ranking, not a projected final season ranking. If ESPN is actually being faithful to the notion of a pure "power ranking" -- and who knows if they are -- then those factors should be immaterial. One of the commentators enumerated several of the relevant criteria (recruiting, current talent, coaching, current program stature, etc.), none of which appeared on its face to reflect scheduling or conference strength.
