Like if only the safety, star or nickel could tackle better

Very good self evaluation ... keep at it you'll heal.

Perhaps.
But at the same time, arguably, only Texas (@ Ohio St) has a tougher opening matchup than LSU. Obviously, we don't have a lot of data to evaluate the CFP selection committee's tendencies in a 12 team CFP. But it appears pretty clear SOS and strength of wins isn't really a big factor. Otherwise, Indiana and SMU wouldn't have gotten in ahead of the 3 SEC teams last year. Point being, 10-2 vs. a shitty schedule is better than being 9-3 vs a really good schedule. LSU likely gets no great benefit by beating Clemson relative to if they beat someone like Boston College. But a loss is a HUGE cost if that means the difference between 10-2 and 9-3.
From a fan entertainment standpoint I love that LSU is playing Clemson instead of an overmatched small conf. opponent. But from a competitive standpoint it doesn't make a lot of sense to play Clemson when, playing Stanford or California or Wake Forest would be just as beneficial.

As you said, with only one year of data it’s hard to know if there will be different criteria this year. How Indiana and SMU did last year might cause the committee this year to reevaluate. So I don’t think I would be confident saying it’s “pretty clear” SOS and strength of wins will be overlooked this year. But certainly, as a LSU fan, I’d be more comfortable playing a lesser team rather than Clemson.

He appears to taking a much more aggressive approach this offseason.

I guess that’s a nice change of philosophy to have the team ready to be competitive by week one?

We have been competive in all openers. Try again.

I’m not anti Kelly but yeah sure man, 0-3 with two of those losses to pretty average teams and a blowout. Very competitive.

Exactly bro.
He should change it up.
He should change it up.

Was a brilliant hire st the time. He is smart enough to adapt and fulfill his goals. We just along for the ride.

I think we will know after 1 quarter against Clemson how the season will play out

I think he started realizing he had to change to win in the SEC.

The talent level on the defensive side of the ball was at a historically low level.
LSU Administration was slow in developing a strong NIL program and General Management Staff.
LSU did not have the necessary funds available to attract elite level transfer players.
These issues are not Brian Kelly’s fault.
All these issues have been not only addressed, but put in place at a very high level.
LSU is now ready to compete at a Championship level.
Some of you blame Kelly for issues completely out of his control.

quote:Actually, LSU was out in front of NIL, it just became more of a shite show (others not staying within the spirit of the rule) than anyone who wanted to play by the rules could imagine.

And then yeah, when that came to be, they were behind.

Some of you are emotional Karen’s.If anybody thought this program was championship calaber the last 3 years well BK is right you are ignorant what it takes to get to the top .It took Kirby 5or 6 seasons to get there,Dabo the same,NS at LSU 4 seasons and he still lost 4 games his 5th year. This ain’t Ala where lineman grow on trees,

BK knows he blew a chance in 2023 with Daniels and Co. That was the best offense he ever had and may ever have. If LSU just had an average defense that team likely makes the CFP...possibly even winning the NC.
100% this!!!

Big season ahead

quote:Most of us saw BK get a mud hole stomped in him by Elko. Elko makes a change and BK kneeled on the sideline in utter shock. He didn't have the know how to prevent the aggy qb from looking like a Heisman candidate. Those are facts, not hot Karen takes.
