The Tigers used that backfield combination -- typically featuring either Darrel Williams or Kenny Hilliard at fullback and either Leonard Fournette or Terrence Magee at tailback -- seven times in last Saturday's 31-0 win against Louisiana-Monroe.

Six of those were short-yardage situations where LSU ran a simple fullback dive, achieving three touchdowns, but opposing defensive coordinators must also realize how that personnel grouping presents other threats.

"Obviously we're not going to show all of what we have in our arsenal, but it could be dangerous and I'm all for it."

Can't wait to see Jennings fake the handoff to the fullback and run the option with LF

That, or fake the handoff to the fullback (DL or Hilliard) and then flick the ball out to LF on the edge. Either way, it's really nasty.

Looks like there may be a secret Playbook.....

"There was, however, one slip of the tongue coming out of the LSU dressing room Saturday night while looking toward the future. “I feel like Chief is going open up the playbook a little bit with us,” said D.J. Welter."

It just may not be one for the offense.

If it was more exotic, we might have won a couple of games.

If we make them respect the QB and FB then eventually we will have Fournette on a CB or just wide open on the toss depending on how much the bite on the FB.

Hopefully LF catches the pitch this time. He lost 15 yards on what would have been a nice play in the Wisconsin game.

That was three weeks ago and he's improved with each game.

Having a fullback with actually running back skills may prevent defensive lines from playing games with our offensive line, like we saw against Wisconsin in particular.
