I'm not seeing the results of this Canada hype machine. I know it's only been 3 games but after 3 games with Esminger calling the plays we increased our production dramatically. Remember when we were averaging 40 pts a game?
This Canada offense is one penalty waiting on the next . Guice' s numbers are down but at least we are spreading the ball to different receivers even if they can't catch it.
At this point it seems hard to argue that Esminger's offense looked a lot better!

So far, it's smoke and mirrors. Window dressing. No more than an extended form of the classic Dallas cowboy's OL raise up/get set motion. Not impressed. Maybe he's limited by personnel.
No, wait. We all said "wait till Canada gets here with this talent."

I think we all believed that Canada offense was going to be different than what we are getting.

I know I did. I also would prefer Ensminger offense.

So far, I have to agree. Too many penalties, not enough easy completions over the middle, etc. However, I think Ensminger had the luxury of a better O-line and a much more experienced WR group. Canada didn't call a bad game and did burn them early in the game for a TD, but the penalties continue and I feel we can make some easier throws to Chark and Guice that can have a big impact. I like some of the new running plays (one of which we scored on Saturday), but the offense needs work.

All that moving the tackle and tight ends around is comical at best. LSU will light it up against Syracuse and troy. However, the swamp will be waiting October 7.

Agree, we ain't physical in the trenches. LSU is soft up front.

I think most were expecting spread or something close to it. It's not even close. Also every pass route is beyond 15 yards

I just don't understand why we have such tight formations.

O said we were going to run a spread offense. Instead we are running bunch formations with pre-snap motion. When teams load the box all the players for LSU are bringing the DBs in with them in even closer. Then we run into that.

Where the frick is the spread and the quick passes to help our QB out?

He didn't want the job. He said so. But the offense was productive,

I'm not sure he said that and if he did then bad on him. We do not have the personnel for he spread. Etling is not a spread QB and from what I can see neither is Brennan.

We do not have OL that has been coached for the pass. Malone, Clapp and Weathersby have been run oriented players for 3-4 years...my guess is they are still learning the line blocking assignments.

From what I can tell, Canada's offense is all going to hinge on the motion creating some mismatches in personnel especially in the slot position

Yeah, it really confused the crap out of MSU.

Said on mike and mike

quote:

We’ll be a totally spread offense,” Orgeron said. “We won’t have a fullback in the backfield.”

Well, he does not have a full back, that's for sure. But I would not call this a spread offense...at least not a traditional spread which is what Mullen uses ( Tebow & Fitzgerald)

Never the less, It would help if the receivers would not drop the ball when delivered into their hands by the QB. Those are drive killers and you can't blame Canada or Orgeron for that.

Look, I've been watching LSU for 40 plus years, we as fans tend to over react every time we lose and we lose big. The jury is still out on Canada and Orgeron. I hope this week against Syracuse that he takes any reins he has on the offense and go. MSU is a better team than most gave them credit for with a coherent , constant offensive philosophy and execution. We don't have that right now mainly because the coordinator is new and our O got exposed.

I'm really more worried about the defense. It's one thing for the offense to struggle, but if the D puts you in a 17 point hole by half time, it makes your offense one dimensional and predictable . Remember also in terms of our receivers, aside from Chark, you essentially have receivers like Gage and Dillon who have 4 maybe 5 game experience. I did not see Gage or Anderson ( where is he?) until the A & M game last year and I did not really see Dillon until this year. Also Sullivan and Davis are essentially playing in their third game ever in college.

I although one of the few was happy with our offense last year. I like the ground and pound offense. The problem was les and cam, when ensminger started calling the plays, we were putting up big numbers. Some things needed to be cleaned up and a good quarterback found but I believe the power running game is what's needed to win in the sec. This cute shite is gonna be eaten alive by the good defense, just like we saw saturday.

Can we quit the season, promote Aranda, and let Ensminger reinstall the offense for Brennan next year? I almost threw up watching two awesome quarterbacks play efficiently during the UT USC game

Even though in fans minds we have talent, maybe it's not nearly as good ... it starts with your QB.... not knocking Etling but he's not knocking down any walls... guys like him usually carry clipboards....
