Reid's tweet:
Another Reid tweet:

Two days into free agency, many players have signed with new teams or re-signed with their current ones. Safety Eric Reid isn't one of them. Reid, who was the first player to kneel alongside Colin Kaepernick during the national anthem in protest of racial inequality and systemic oppression, took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to state his feelings on how his protests might be affecting his job search.
Reid's tweet:
quote:
The notion that I can be a great signing for your team for cheap, not because of my skill set but because I’ve protested systemic oppression, is ludicrous. If you think is, then your mindset is part of the problem too.
quote:
Reid went on to express his belief that the league's general managers aren't the ones keeping him from signing a new deal. Rather, the root of the problem is at the ownership level, he said.
Another Reid tweet:
quote:
GMs aren’t the hold up broski. It’s ownership. People who know football know who can play. People who know me, know my character.

I agree with this statement

Does he think complaining about it will help?

When you find yourself in a hole, quit digging. He went from being an all time great Tiger to an embarrassment.

Nobody said he couldn't kneel.
You can do whatever you want in this great country.
Freedom of speech and expression.
But be prepared for what your actions may result in, and don't be shortsighted.

He’ll look back one day when he’s old and realize just how stupid he was. Costing himself a ton of money. I hope it’s worth it

Don't care what he does in the pro, will always remember how he took that Football away in the Alabama game.

I supported his right to protest, but this is bullshite coming from him.
When you protest, you should do so knowing full well the consequences of your actions. If he didn't foresee this very thing happening, he shouldn't have protested. It also calls into question his true motives for protesting.
But bottom line is he's just not good enough. If he were a Pro-Bowl player, teams would still line up to sign him. He's just not good enough to make up for the distraction he caused.

I’ll take the millions of dollars over what you call integrity any day. I call what he is doing stupidity.

Should've considered the consequences of his actions before making his support for Kaepernick and his movement

Sounds like a personal problem. People are tired of politics and sports. When the consumer doesn’t want it, why would an owner sign him with his type of baggage?

There’s a choice to be made. He can be a professional athlete and be well paid, or he can be a political protestor and not be paid.
But the time to make that choice was a couple years ago. He made a choice.

He has every right to protest.....teams have every right not to hire him.
