Yes. They can and yes they do.

This is an old, antiquated philosophy by an out of touch Reid who is grandstanding for publicity. He’s placating to idiots that apparently don’t know that student athletes are indeed paid now, legally, by the schools.

The highest paid team is Tennessee. The information is out there if you just look for it.

That is funny, I worked 3 and 4 jobs to pay my way through college and went hungry a time or two. I was not provided scholarship, food Or housing.

The man is right. It's kinda bullshite that they can build that, but not give the players any type of money for cost of living.

The problem is, if you paid football players you’d have to pay every other scholarship athlete and while LSU and a handful of other schools probably could afford to pay every one, most schools could not.

I think the fairest solution would be to allow them to make money on their own, monetize their likeness etc.

And don't tell me their scholarship is enough money to survive on... I been to college, I was starving, even with a full ride.

Was it in the last 3 years? There’s a little thing called Cost of Attendance now and the players are compensated legally by the universities.

Making money off their likesness opens the door for boosters to pay recruits. How much is that five star recruits autographs worth. The rich get richer or is parity worth anything to help the sport survive.

I knew many of the players in early nineties. All had great summer jobs. Like all society it’s not just how much you make but how you spend it.

Any one that leaves LSU with six figures of debt is a fool or a doctor.

No need for the schoo;s to pay the guys. Let the boosters give them all the cah they choose to give them. And let local businesses give the guys cushy jobs.

The fairy tale that college football is anything but a multi-billion dollar business is dead.

What's wrong with what he said? Players should be compensated with the amount of money their talent brings in.

Oh, really? You want to take a look at the research dollars that some these students bring in? I think you might change your point of view.

Yes, and those students can work for any research company that will hire them and make money off of their skills (brain). These athletes are not awarded that same option.

How was he trying to burn bridges at LSU? The tweet doesn't support what you're daying in any way.

As long as athletes are willing to play for a scholarship and a chance to become a professional athlete, why pay them? I mean, as long as we're talking about market forces here, I wouldn't offer to pay cash to someone who was willing to work for other compensation.

It should be when the players stop coming to play at college that pay should be considered. After all, no one is FORCING them to play for scholarships.

Read some of Reid's tweets'

one of them was a retweet of the squad...

These women are not America, they offer little value in the political debate on what is best for America's future

Reid must not appreciate the quick millions he made...

If the quad got their way, football and big money would be gone....

Add in med/vision and dental. Most of these kids get their jacked up teeth and bad vision fixed when they're at a major university on scholarship
