I'm not sure I want Ensminger grooming anyone. It's not like Ensinger is some legendary OC that is getting ready to retire.

Brady has never called plays, slinger has. I think it’s more about that and getting Brady familiar with our playbook and terminology.

Has there ever been this much hype over a guy with so little experience?

I'm all for a change at OC!

But

He’ll bring in the best coordinators they said. We’ll hire the best OC and DC with all the money we save on our budget HC they said.

Orgeron has no business trying to find diamonds in the rough at OC. There are plenty of established OCs out there that would do wonders with our talent. Why we haven’t hired one of them yet is Ming boggling. This was literally his pitch to get the HC job and he’s played us for fools.

This.

Kind of underscores how desperate LSU fans are for a functional offense. Krags, Cam, some were excited for Ensminger, and now a guy who has never been an OC.

He's been a OC?

Hopefully he’s Kliff Kingsbury, Sean Mcvay, Kyle Shannahan, Kendall Briles, etc. type.

Pretty big expectations on a Hire that has little experience and has never been a OC.

There were/are so many accomplished OCs available. If O really wanted a high-performing offense commensurate with our talent WHY did he pass on them?

E is only marginally more qualified to "groom" someone for OC than Curley Hallman.

Did I ever say I was expecting it? That’s what we are hoping for. People called the rams crazy for hiring Mcvay. I never said he was going to become the best football coach ever, but he’s a young guy who can bring the modern style we are looking for. Never said he was an OC before.

That's a mountain of HOPE for a hire that has very little experience and was never an OC.

ummm so? he had 10 years of experience, a pretty good track record as an assistant and OC.

Never accused you of posting it.

Based off what, being a 2 year assistant for the saints?

I like the hire, but you might want to pump the brakes on your Huge, Diamond in the Rough... HOPE!

I HOPE you are right, as CEO sold himself on hiring the BEST coordinators! He just doubled down on SE and if Brady is to become the next OC, it will be an experiment, not a proven OC.

It is important for a new coach to fit in the O coaching team. Brady fits that important (to O) criteria.
If he turns out to be a diamond in the rough, then great.

frick all y’all denigrating Ensminger. He’s a very good play caller and has a lot to contribute to an up and coming OC. Brady will be glad to have had him if he is the future OC.

Our TE coach became our OC

I'm sure after a year or two as passing game coordinator he will be ready

I don't understand all the bitching about this suggestion.

Joe Brady has never run an offense, has little/no college experience. Ensminger has been in the college game for decades and has been OC several times over.

Brady was under Sean Payton and hopefully learned a lot from him, but he needs also to learn the basics of being a coordinator before you would toss him in that spot. Ensminger would be an invaluable aide in that role.

As for bringing in "the best"... it's been clear a long time that LSU wants to run a prostyle offense. Payton's version of that is great. It isn't Brees-dependent. If you could bring that system here and get it running, it would be the best thing we've seen in a very long time.

added: if you can get that started, I think LSU becomes a major destination for pro-style QB recruits. The goal is eventually to land in the NFL, why not go to a ranked team running the best system to train you?

This thread is awful. Shits all over Ensminger to prop up a guy none of you ever heard of 5 minutes ago. Yes, I am excited about the hire too, but calm your tits this guy has a lot more to prove before anyone should be calling for him to be OC.

The thing is a true pro style offense is gone. That ship has sailed. Even the Saints have brought in guys like Joe Brady to implement college style plays and formations like the RPO

That's what LSU needs. Not a pro style offense that puts up a combined 0 points per game against Alabama
