What the frick? I damned sure hope they got him into an intersession class. .10 is very easy to make up with one class.

Apparently if had gone to Bama, he would be a 4.0 student

ETA: Unless it’s some kind of clearing issue with the NCAA - e.g. red tape. That might explain the “1-2 games” talk.

I’m betting this is what it comes down to. The NCAA and it’s clearinghouse handle things on their own timeframes. They don’t give a shite if a kid’s eligibility can get processed in time for the season.

Yup, and it doesn't seem like Emery gives a shite either.

The season starts in two weeks. It seems nothing has moved quickly in this situation.

Exactly.

It took the NCAA until week 12 into last season to clear Tre Bradford to play for LSU, because of the transfer to OU and back to LSU.

If this was an LSU Compliance issue the issue would be solved by this point, therefore this is out of LSU's hand and an NCAA issue.

It looks like it took Emery until the last Summer Session to catch up on the progress toward degree requirements, which is not out of the question considering he had to make up some classes from last year and complete this years progress. That would give a very tight time-frame for getting NCAA clearance.

When will we know if he’s ineligible? Are summer grades in?

The fact that he’s taking meaningful snaps in practice should tell you that the staff thinks he’s going to be eligible. Williams would get those carries if they didn’t think he would be able to play.

He must have the grades and they are just waiting for the clearinghouse to process him.

Maybe he’s just not very good? He still bounces everything to the outside like he’s still in high school. Is he more talented than Josh Williams? Absolutely. But Williams and others are smarter players

You are right, I remember saying to myself looks like Joe will be OK(lol) at QB but we only have Brossette at RB, he’ll do I guess but that’s it. Flash forward 1.3 yrs and we had the 1st & 32nd pick of the NFL draft. I think I know the game pretty good but in the end we don’t know shite. CBK will figure it out, I definitely know that.

It’s an LSU issue if we haven’t figured a way to grease these wheels in the clearing house.

grrrrrrrrr

ETA: I'm starting to think he failed to declare or possibly changed his major (prior to 5th semester). You not only have to maintain a gpa, but maintain hours AND there's a max for summer session hours... but all of those have to apply to his major at the same time. That's the only thing I can think of that would dog an athlete this long assuming gpa was maintained. All reports were he was attending and had the gpa... so it's something really persistent and outside the norm here.
