Probably been told they are going to red shirt him. He has already played in a few games this year already. Why blow a year of eligibility if he is not needed.

He's played in two games. Has two more in which he can appear and still keep his redshirt year.

Edit to add:
The LSU website has conflicting information concerning the number of games in which John Emery has played..

When looking at stats > miscellaneous (which is participation), "Emery Jr., John" has participated in two games. However, if you go game by game stats and look at participation there, "Emery Jr." shows up in two games, but "Emery" shows up in an additional four. So, that could be a total of six games.

There are also two separate lines for John Emery under season rushing stats, one with a Jr. and one without. The "John Emery" line says 6 games played, but the "John Emery Jr." line says 2 games played.

Not sure if this has to do with the recent update to the stats page or something else.

Frustration is definitely building his dad made a couple tweets threatening the coaching staff after the auburn game. He hasn’t touched the field in any of the top ten matchups and seen limited touches in the other games. Seems like they think he is being punished but other freshman have made mistakes and have had chances to redeem themselves. I hope he gets some touches soon the transfer portal is real

He’s definitely played in more then two. Regardless, he does need to get his touches, or prepare himself to wait. I hope he waits and gets his chances.

When CEH runs for 150 yards and 2 TDs against Bama, he’s going to declare, and Emery will be right there waiting.

I just don't understand what is lacking in our running game that makes ppl start this same exact thread every day.

CEH has been running his arse off.

Is it just a backup obsession thing?

Legit wondering.

I hope he doesn't let the noise get to him...RB's have a limited number of bullets anyway, so its not the end of the world if he waits his turn and doesn't get used up in college, after all I'm sure his goal is to make it to the NFL, and not playing until he is ready is truly a better proposition.

This coaching staff has earned our trust regarding the personnel decisions it has been making.

What did his dad say?
Can you link the tweets?

Or is this just pure conjecture?

No clue. CEH is 10x the RB Emery is right now.

The play he blew against Florida did him in. Burrow sees him as a liability, especially in big games

TDP was an EE. I think some ppl forget the significance of that. He had all spring to learn the new offense. I can’t recall the exact years but we’ve all seen it before. At LSU and other programs over the years. There will be a moment in a crucial game that Emery somehow gets an opportunity to make something big happen and he will seize the moment. I would love to see an undefeated LSU against A&M and at some point they go to Emery and he bust some big runs to seal the game

This is not high school and you don’t get to play just because you were a big star in high school. You have to earn PT. Clyde is one of the best backs in the SEC and is playing like it and Price gives him a perfect change up. Emory will get his chances

Does Emery have more breakaway speed than the other two? If so, it would be nice if he was a bigger part of the offense. We could use someone who won’t get caught from behind, especially if we continue to struggle in the red zone.

I guess I’m asking because we are in the age of this transfer portal BS and would hate to have him disgruntled.

I have heard from two sources inside the program that say he is PISSED, really pissed. They say he feels the coaches are making an example of him and he doesn’t like it.

Read into that anything you do or don’t want but they have never steered me wrong before.

What’s more important, speed or understanding the offense and assignments?

The obsession with Emery is fascinating. It’s like his fanboys don’t even watch the games.

Just be patient. If he improves and is good enough, he will play. Until then he won’t and he shouldn’t.
