For me it was when he cut off the route thinking he had the pick.
Did yall notice how high he got for that? On the replay I said "well he can jump about 4 fricking feet."
That will get him some balls down the line.

I was impressed by ricks. Hes legit day 1 starter
Thats the problem.
Last year we got spoiled by Burrow(the best QB season ever) and Stingley(the best freshman CB we've ever seen).
Good isn't good enough anymore for some jackwagons.

He's a quick learner. He will improve fast after that pick that he played perfectly.

Ricks got better as the game went on. Super promising considering that was his first college game

Thought the same thing and exactly my point - he damn near got that ball. Last year he would have been dancing in the end zone on that play. This year he needed to stay in coverage another second or 2. If he does that, the result of the play is very different, he might have another int, and no one says anything about his Instagram.
Regardless, the ball skills, awareness, and athleticism he showed there were off the charts.
He can be the best cb in college in about 2 years.

This. And honestly, that's the same mentality that, when he gets more experience, could make him a top corner coming out. Corners usually have that bravado.

One of, if not the, only time a CB turned their head around to locate the ball that game.
If you whiff on the jam at the line and let them run right by you, turn your head all you want and it's not going to do you any good. Very few times were our CBs even close enough to the receiver to think about looking for the ball, they were having to run too damn hard to catch up. Better technique at the snap will give them a chance to get their head around and look for the ball.
