My husband and I are CHOOSING to move to Baton Rouge.

Here's why--we have lived in Charlotte, NC for 13 years after a four year stay in BR. It is STILL cold here--I'll take heat and humidity anytime! It is boring here for seniors-I play a lot of bridge and my husband goes to lots of groups. We had no plans to move until we returned from a family meet-up in N.O. at Thanksgiving--there was nothing really to look forward to on our return. We made a list of pros and cons--we knew the crime and traffic were negatives--have that here also. My husband and I like to take classes and learn and LSU offers so much--like the OLLI program--lifelong learning for seniors. Plus Ted Talks, etc. We graduated from LSU many years ago and never dreamed we'd be learning there again. No family there but hoping to make friends--it's harder when you are older. We moved often because my hubby was in the oil business so we know Baton Rouge offers what we want--LSU sports, learning, opera, crawfish etoufee and gumbo. Can't wait!!

Good. All you haters of B.R. stay away, far away. More room for those of us who love it to enjoy it even more. As well, I have lived or worked extensively in Chicago, Houston, Dallas, south L.A. , Lafayette, N.O. Thibodaux, & B.R. The people here in La. make all the difference, and it is a big difference. As the Burrow's, the Bregman's, et al, all of whom have raved about the people of La., B.R. Chances are good that the Ricks' family will come to feel the same.

I’ve lived in Houston and now live in DFW. Baton Rouge traffic is hands down the worst. The lack of loops or other mitigating factors force all traffic through few routes. Every trip home to BR is so frustrating I wait longer to visit again.

Wow you seem to have a wonderful life and great outlook.

Baton Rouge and the area surrounding the city actually have quite a bit to offer. Plenty of waterways for fishing, great areas for hunting, great golf courses, tremendous restaurants, plantations to visit, historical sites, great shopping. Avoid the bad areas as with any big city.

Your opinion is your opinion not sure where you live but stay there

I know but Katrina changed everything, city population grew by over 100,000 never recovered or improved loops or streets

You must have never been to LA on any day or time...especially on on the 405! Bad traffic is all relative...
