Is he hurt? I thought he would be getting atleast a few minutes off the bench. Love my baw Darcy but Tigers need either Robinson, Odo, or Epps to give the Tigers a few quality minutes.

Robinson is gonna take some time. He was always a project. He needs to continue to lose weight. Getting down to 250 would greatly improve his conditioning and quickness.

Elbert isn't hurt. While I think Elbert will be a good player for LSU, Darcy fits into our style much better. He can run the court, yet still battle bigs down low. Give Elbert another year to improve his athleticism/endurance and he could play a big part in next year's squad.

Robinson is very far behind. Odo is a small step ahead of Robinson. I'm not sure why Epps isn't playing.

South, is he not going to play the rest of the year?

Would have been great to redshirt him if he was this raw

I don't think so. From my observation the guy in the times I've seen him play has trouble moving around at a pace needed to keep up at this level. Hopefully this is something he can improve.

Darcy needs to settled down out there. Man he is one fouling machine. Some are very suspect imo.

Yeah he's reeeeaaaaallllllyyyyyy slllloooooowwwww. And has brick hands. Not sure how was a top 100 high school player even in HS he only averaged around 12 PPG IIRC.

He started the first few games. I don't think LSU exactly knew in Elbert to start the year. When I saw his HS film I didn't think he could be college ready yet, but we didn't have many options. He has played good in some stretches, and others have been just bad.

I don't blame them for not redshirting. I don't think Elbert would have been okay with that. He wants to play. I hope he can figure out what is needed to get on the court and make it happen.

He could still play some this year. I mean, 3 weeks ago I would have laughed at you if you told me Darcy Malone would play 20+ minutes in an SEC game.

Darcy is still adjusting to the speed and athleticism of the game but he's improved significantly and if he continues to improve he will be a solid player by his senior year. You can't coach someone to be 7 ft and he's got a nice touch. He's just still a liability at times down low.

It is amazing to me how guys with such big hands have such a hard time holding on to the ball. Malone, Odo, and Robinson all have height advantages and continually have rebounds that hit them square in the hands that inevitably fall to the other team. It's unbelievable that teams seem to get more second chance points when LSU has 7 foot players on the court instead of a smaller lineup

It's a problem with almost all guys that size. I think it takes a lot of concentration when your arms are so damn long.

Elbert is turning into and two and done player or about a year more than his AAU coach thought.

At this stage in the game Tuba > Elbert. Tuba was aggressive and actually had decent hands. Elbert has none of the above. Hopefully he can improve down the road.
Darcy has great handles and nice touch on his shot. But, how can he get 4 fouls and still come away with 0 rebounds. A lot of times he is still guarding his man after the ball is shot instead of blocking out and looking for the rebound. Seems like an easy fix yet I haven't seen him improve this part of his game.

Before everyone freaks... remember TQ jump. Notice the jump in Jarell.

Those are all guys who have not played at the highest level ever. Meaning in HS they were sheltered from the elite leagues or elite travel HS ball that is required to be ready to play day one.

Now look at Patterson and watch the Killer B's next year and they'll be much more ready day one. They've played on elite circuits (summer and HS) for years now and it'll show.

Just remember this when Elbert "somehow" completely transformed his game in one season. Lol

Fwiw, takes even longer for a guy like Darcy who was a few notches below and has longer to catch up.

I couldn't disagree more. Tuba's development was remarkable (great coaching, IMO), but Elbert has started at a place better than Tuba's ceiling. The difference is Tuba had to play and ER3 can't crack the rotation. That's the John Jones recruiting kicking in.

Darcy has no business being on the court during SEC play. I don't understand why Johnny Jones started Odo at center for pretty much the entire preseason/non-conference play and then decides to throw Darcy in once SEC play starts. I understand that Robinson hasn't given us as much as everyone hoped, but I find it very hard to believe that he, Epps, or Odo couldn't do a better job playing those 3-4 minutes before we sub in Quarterman.

Are you crazy? Darcy was one of the few bright spots vs Mizzou. The kid has played well lately and is deserving of his minutes. Nobody moves him in the paint (which is shocking because he struggles on dead ball situations). He gave Odo every chance and he gave LSU nothing (and he can't catch, should see how players look at him after he misses an easy pass). Darcy earned his time in practice then proved his worth in games. Epps and Elbert are extremely raw. Their time will come and when they get a few minutes, that's when they have to earn more. Right now, Darcy doing exactly what yah want/need from a 5 for 10-15 mins.

Darcy has played so much better than Odo had the last few games. Jones never felt comfortable enough to play Odo more than 4 minutes... Darcy has played over 10 minutes in each of the last 3 games. Darcy has made our team better.

I agree. I would still like to see Epps get in the game a bit more though. Nothing against Bridgewater, but it's just a huge liability against SEC competition to have a 6'4" PF. There are a lot of guys in the league playing the 4 that aren't great players. However, they are all between 6'7" - 6'10". Bridgewater is just overmatched on the glass
