Hopefully, shaq told him after the game last night that he would work with him.

Martin is not 6'10

6'7 would be closer to his actual height

I think your 6'7 projection is much more hilarious, he is probably 6'9

You think the roster is lying by 3"?

He is a true freshman who isn't ready for the speed and athleticism of the college game. I think that's simply all it is. I don't understand how some of our fans expect every single player to walk in as a freshman and start throwing up solid stats.

People hated Quarterman last year, a part of the fan base said that he should never see any time and needs to transfer. Last year as a freshman he just wasn't ready to play college ball. This year he is one of our most valuable players.

He is a "big" project. Andrew Del Piero his last year looked better than Elbert does now. But if ADP could do it, then Elbert can. He is a few years away. As others have mentioned, he doesn't appear too happy on the bench.

I think it's because of the change in the game, to accommodate players ready "now" to go to the NBA as soon as possible.

15 yrs ago, people wouldn't be labeling Martin and Mickey as near-busts because they are still in college as sophomores, and look like they need at least another year to develop their games. You'd say they are showing plenty of promise, and anticipate they would have very bright college careers as they hone their skills. But today, there are rumblings because Martin isn't a 20-10 guy, and Mickey isn't consistently scoring more than 10 pts.

Same with Robinson- he's just a freshman. Hell, coach K said he would have redshirted Shaq as a freshman if he went to Duke. But it's a disaster nowadays if a guy actually has to redshirt; nobody comes to develop their game anymore. They showcase it now.

Good point all about Elbert Robinson. I was excited when he signed last year. I think we are all impatient for players to come in right away as we are used to one and done and two and done players. Charles Barkley mentioned last year that the quality of play in the NBA is suffering because of this. There is no developing done anymore. That is why there is more parity in college basketball and will be in the future in football. There are certain programs that build 4 year players and they develop chemistry, while other top programs get a lot of one and done players. It equalizes things. You have a program like Kentucky who looks very average during the year, but caught fire in the NCAA tournament and almost won it all. The young players finally caught fire.

He will probably never start. I mean that. And I'm very positive. Heck, before the season I was sure Tim Quarterman was a future pro.

If it was just shape, he would be good for a minute or two now

To be fair, he measured 6'7.5" at Nike Skills Camp. LINK

Something had to be off though.

Edit: you know what. That draft express profile has his wingspan and height swapped. Easy thing to miss considering a 6'10" with such a small wingspan is a big rarity.

It was a mystery to me when CJJ brought Elbert in. JJ is an uptempo all the time coach. Elbert is a half court slow it down lumbering true center. No way he transforms in to a front line rotation player for us in the next two yrs. He really should consider going to someone who plays a more deliberate style.
