or would we have to settle for another Les Miles?

Sure, I will "settle" for another Miles like record since, to this point in time, it's our best ever.

Well that wouldn't happen unless we got saban over here for four years to build the program back up to let another dumb arse slowly let it go down hill

Id like to see where he got that low buyout figure. I read it was 15 to 18 million not counting coordinators.

They are not gonna buy Miles out this year...no matter how much the morons stomp their feet and cry about it.

If this contract didnt exist you might have yourself something to dream about.

Nick left us pretty good. Little doubt bout that in my mind.

55-15 with a NC since Nick is pretty good as well. Little doubt bout that either in my mind.

If you can only enjoy one and not the other, that's your problem.

I'm just glad it's not mine.

So the mighty TAF is gonna complete the largest coaching buyout in history in the worst economic environment in 80 years. All this while it's university is cutting programs and employees and it's in one of the poorest states in the union.

Really?

the athletic department and the university budget is about as separate as day is to night. Not one penny FROM THE STATE FUNDS THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT. and the bulk of the money comes from TAF which is totally separate from the athletic department that is about as separate as pluto is to earth. please quit making the correlation between the athletic department and the university b/c you are obviously ignorant on how both allocate and receive funds and revenue.

Claude The Third will ante, if it has to come to that. Zuschlag, Bernhard, etc..?

LSU is 5-0, let's enjoy the ride.

Besides, if/when if at all, this year, next, next, whenever the day arrives..

And what exactly are Alleva and/or the power-brokers parameters/hurdles to be met, if there are any clearly defined ones in place at all, or behind closed doors in AD's office. Or if Miles has any distinct ones placed before him, known or unbeknownst to he and his staff?

Why even speculate?

Enjoy the ride fellas(says this hypocritical guy that was cussing "he's a gone pecan" after the apparent Tenn loss last Sat)!

Even should Miles end this year poorly. What makes anyone believe we at LSU, have a Foley in place("If it is imminent..") and/or a Meyer on this market(Petersen, Harbaugh, Patterson, etc..)..or a Mal Moore(backed by folk$ hellbent to hire the best at any price and regain their rightful place)?

I lot of people don't know that they would have time to miles his buyout.

In the contract it specifically says the payout would be twice the length of the remaining years on the contract. So if he has 2 years left the buyout would be paid over 4 years and if he is hired by someone else that pay would be deducted from the total amount LSU would owe him.

Everyone understands that the athletic department is a financial juggernaut if its own. But YOU are missing the point There is no athletic department without the university. Tiger stadium in on the LSU CAMPUS.

The very largest percentage of football players will never see the NFL and come LSU for an education. If that equation is hurt or compromised eventually your Football program will suffer as well.

Sure but if you truly understand this:

Then there is ZERO reason to question this issue.

Bingo!

TAF is there for athletics...& though most wont admit it, its primarily for football.

If they need to buy out a coach to keep the program headed in the right direction, I'm sure it can happen.

Plus, there are other options besides buying him out.

The budget cuts affecting the school do not affect the athletic department directly because the athletic department does not receive money from the state. . .

. . . BUT, in this climate of massive school cuts, it is more than likely systems president John Lomabardi will not let the AD fire a coach with FOUR YEARS on his contract and have to pay him $15 million, especially when he wins 8 games a year and is/was the winningest coach in school history wioth a national championship. It would be a public relations disaster for the school and the state, and it doesn't matter how you break up the payments.

Les is under contract through 2014. That is a fact. His buyout is his full compensation, not just the base salary, meaning $3.751 million per remaining years. That is a fact.

The best you can hope for is that they try to talk Les into leaving, retiring, with some sort of compromised settlement. Maybe his family is tired of the ridicule they face, which is way more painful than what LSU fans feel.

Let's see, 10 million divided by 50,000 = 200.

You think we can rally together 50,000 folks that would give at least $200 donation?

I think so.

If LSU loses 5 games, I'm pretty sure his seat is red hot and he might get canned!

Best chance for a lose!

One has nothing to do with the other.

The school wouldn't pay any of the buyout.
