I realize it's early but we could go from horrible this year to pretty decent/good next year. There are a lot of rumors circling out there that LSU may be interested in signing JUCO DT Jonathan Taylor from Co-Lin. I realize there are character and legal issues involved but if he can stay out of trouble then that gives us two 330 plus lb guys (Taylor and Valentine) in the middle of our line. With Godchaux and whoever else rotating in. Major improvement if you ask me!

The DL showed improvement this past game whether some of you want to admit it or not. They will continue to do so as the season goes on....and should be pretty darn good next year. Herron will probably move outside next year.

You could see miss state and ole miss start to build a stacked DLine the last couple years. We have just been getting out recruited on that aspect. We need some help and player development soon on that end.

Valentine should be good. Godchaux will be a good one, he's just a trus freshman. LaCoture is decent, not all american, but decent. He should be better as a junior. I think DT will be much improved next year, but we will be in trouble at DE, likely losing both startes and LB will still be an issue.

They have a couple of really good DT's....it's not like that is the norm or will be in the future....good god you knee-jerking over-reacting kid......we have TF playing on the line....LSU missed on a couple and some left early.....Godcheaux will be good....Valentine was a big get, LMFAO was also a good get.....there are others that were big gets...they are just young...it's not that hard to understand. They will get better and better THIS year and will be good next year.....good god you kids.

I agree. LBer is still a bit of a question mark, but between DB and CG, you gotta home someone develops.

I hope our linebackers next year are Kwon, CG3 and Beckwith. Hopefully they can convince Kwon to stay and that CG3 can live up to the hype of a dominant MLB with the rest of this season, the spring and fall to get better. Would be fricking ridiculous.

DL players usually come into their prime after their second year.

LSU's DL talent is nearly all in their second year. The experienced DL talent left early.

Miss State has a terrific d-line this year because they are nearly all seniors.

It's not a continuing recruiting failure, nor is it a trend.

DT is going to become a team strength with Godchaux, CL, Trey L, and Valentine, plus the JUCO guy we might get. The defensive line is in good hands.

The future for LSU's defense is just as bright as it is with the offense, we just have to grow those guys up this year.

we should not be in this situation. we have no junior dts. that is the problem. we only took one dl (Hunter) 2012. that should never happen. but then, we only have one dl (de) committed for 2015. lm needs to have a serious talk with haley and chavis about this. you can't recruit 5 or 6 dl in one year and 1 or 2 in one year. injuries, transfers, nfl will cause the problem we have.

We have 5 juniors/seniors on the DL (2 of which had only Squad team experience coming into the year). We have 14 freshmen/sophomores on the DL. We are playing baby faced 18 year olds who are matched up against grown 21 year old men from other teams.

If Clifton Garrett pans out then we should be fine at LB with him and Beckwith there. I think DE will be our biggest ? next season. Esp if we land Taylor

DL will be a strength in the years to come. I think the expectations for some of these younger D-linemen are unrealistic.

Defensive tackle has traditionally been a position where it takes a few years to develop into a star. Dorsey, Nevis, etc.

It's only been recently that tackles are being called busts because they aren't dominating like Dorsey or Nevis did when they were juniors.

You forgot Bower at DE, Herron would probably move out too.

This defense should return to for with that lineup in the future. If it doesn't, Chaves would seriously have to be examined for his effectiveness as excuses would be no more.

Bain looked very good in his time in the game against Auburn.

At this point F'it. We weathered Perriloux et al. I foresee a Dline as nasty as Detroit's with Suh and that beast from Auburn - name escapes me. Sign this dude ASAP and assign a student worker to watch him 24/7.

That's what I'm saying. Developing into a dominant defensive tackle still takes time. People have been so ready to write these guys off because they don't come in and dominate from day one.

I'll take his performance as a redshirt freshman any day as a glimmer of hope for the future.
