Don’t really care if the PCSA would be good for college sports

The NCAA doesn’t deserve a win & has proven time and again that they cannot be trusted with an antitrust exemption.
I can’t imagine how that shite passes at this point.
I’d be okay with a salary cap, but the only way I’m okay with it is if a new governing body is created & the NCAA and its conferences remain irrelevant.

The schools have done everything they could to make more money. Tradition was thrown out the window when TV took over.
First we had to play day games. Then they added conference teams. Then they added more conference teams.
Traditional playing dates were thrown out the window. Then they cut out traditional conference opponents.
All this was done to make more money, raise salaries, hire more staff, and to give athletic departments more power.

Is it a win for the NCAA? It is taking over the NCAA's role of making rules for college sports. They'll matter even less. Congress will establish the rules.

Explain this to me. I’m looking at pro sports as precedent & taking into account the SEC continues to claim amateurism + recently attempted to point at their bylaws saying that they can impose harsh penalties or exclusionary measures without arbitration or evidence.
The NCAA has a history of selective enforcement and if not for antitrust, they would be trying to pull the same bullshite.
Is there a clause in PCSA that states rulemaking authority is transferred from the league to Congress?

It depends on what's in the bill. In general, I'm not crazy about legislation to address issues with disparate problems. Especially federal laws.

I think they still want to establish the rules, they just want the weight of law behind them to enforce. Trouble i see no guardrails to prevent continued selective enforcement of rules.

Everybody will have to be on board schools and players and courts.They will need a collective bargaining agreement like the NFL.If the players aren’t in agreement court cases will continue.

This X 1000 and now add the SEC to the list of cannot be trusted to fairly run and enforce rules of collegiate sports.
I trust the chaos and judges of kangaroo courts vs staffers of the NCAA and SEC. No antitrust should be given to either and frankly Lane will thrive in the current environment and give LSU a competitive advantage. Let chaos remain.

This is what I found so strange about the SECs strategy.
It has made itself an enforcement arm for NCAA rules that clearly have issues as we've seen and in a situation in which the NCAA was already hammered for anti-trust acts. It effectively was a double-downing of everything the NCAA was doing before and it put itself in the crossfire of it.
If you are someone in congress who has legitimate anti-trust concerns, how would you not look at this situation and say "Wait...you just tried to do what?"

This is part of the reason the Big 10 and SEC will split away to do their own thing. What players from LSU want and players from say, North Dakota St or even ULL want are not going to be the same

at this point i don't know what the solution is. hell, i'm still trying to clearly identify the problem. LSU is a player and that's all i really care about.

Exactly. Now conferences serve one purpose only, to get lucrative television contracts. They told tradition and the fans to go to "h-e-double hockey sticks."
