Don’t forget, the NCAA (and the schools) did this to themselves

College football has been big business for nearly 30 years. The TV contracts have grown larger and larger over each decade, and the schools wanted to keep the money for themselves and not play the players. Point blank, that’s what led to this.
We have schools paying individual players millions of dollars each now to play a sport. Spare me any argument about a separation between college and professional sports due to some moral code.
Miami is starting a QB who signed a contract with his former school and bailed at the last minute for greener pastures - leaving Duke with no time to find his replacement.
Max Johnson will be starting a seventh year of college football at his fourth school.
Georgia won a national championship with a 25-year-old starting at quarterback.
The lines have been eroding for the entirety of this decade. A few bad decisions by the NCAA as far as how and when they enforce things doesn’t suddenly change that.
If players can get paid, bail on their contracts, and gain extra years of eligibility - all with no consequences - then I don’t see how this is any different.

It will be an anomaly as long as 5 for 5 holds up in courts. Until the schools come to the reality that paid athletes are employees though, they’ll continue to frick this up.

Simply based on when they decided on 5 for 5, this falls on the feet at the NCAA. Now you have LSU and the SEC at each other's throats for something that once again, the NCAA could have completely avoided if anyone there would have thought before they acted.

Good for these players and LSU for playing this out in court the same way everyone else across the country is, but this is a ridiculous line of thinking no matter how many times it is repeated.

They started it and they could end it right now, like NOW. All they have to do is amend their 5 for 5 with a blanket exemption for all 2022 class players. Done!

Yes, your right the schools spent zero money on the players......
There needs to be a study done on the cost to house, feed, train, medicate and clothe each player.
These players get a free education(their choice if they dont capitalize on it), some of the best training facilities and staff, top medical facilities and staff, top nutrition facilities and staff, housing, and a stipend. That doesn't come free.
The bullshite notion that the players deserved more is what got us into this, on top of the NCAA picking and choosing which rules to enforce and how. ...people warned, hey NIL wont fix anything it will make it worse, oo no it wont the player will finally get what the deserve. Well here we are.

Coaches make 8 figure guaranteed deals now. Staffs have like quadrupled in size for no real reason. Schools put waterfalls in their ops centers. Stadiums kept expanding. Conferences have billion dollar TV deals.
They could have created a revenue share model 30 years ago. But they didn’t because they wanted the cheap labor and collect the money.
