If so, wouldn't this not be an option for LSU at present?? But, still have at large BCS option??

it just seems that way because the last two years the 2 best teams in the league were undefeated and playing each other in the SECCG
Lots of times the two best teams are on the same side

This year only if Auburn loses the game.If USCe wins then they and Auburn will be the 2 BCS teams. If Auburn loses to Bama as well then probably not but otherwise. That is our worst case scenario assuming we win out.

please stop using the term, "MNC"......that has been dead since 97. we have determined since 1998 THE NATIONAL CHAMPION through the BCS.

This has been covered as well. If LSU wins out and the CheAUters drop the SECG, LSU will be ranked ahead of Auburn and will get the nod. The top four ranked teams all get BCS bowls.

It's still called the Mythical National Championship.

Not really.

that's the only times the loser of the SEC CG got a BCS Bowl.
Before Bama in 2008, no team had lost its CCG and gotten a BCS at large bid. (OU was #1 in BCS and automatically in the title game in 03)

I don't know, still has a mythical sense to me.
Thanks for the clarification on OP, thought there was some tie in, hence the question.

Is that why the NCAA still doesn't recognize it as an NC

Not necessarily.
1) #1 and #2 are in the NCG.
2) Conf champs of the six major conferences get in.
3) One non-AQ team that is in the top 12 (or top 16 if one of the major conference champs is not ranked in the top 16).
4) Notre Dame if they are in the top 8.
5) If, after #1-4 are fulfilled, #3 is not slated to go to a BCS game automatically, #3 gets an auto bid as long as only one other team is in the NCG from their conference (in this case, if LSU and Auburn are #1 and #2, and #3 is Bama, then Bama would NOT get an auto-bid).
6) If, after #1-5 are fulfilled, #4 is not slated to go to a BCS game automatically, #4 gets an auto-bid, again as long as only one other team from their conference is in automatically.
SOOOOOOO...
Our best chances to go to a BCS game are there, in no particular order:
1) Finish in the top 2 as a non-conference champion.
2) Finish at #3 OR #4 (if Auburn is ahead of us and has lost the SECCG, we are OUT of the BCS).
3) Win out and hope that Auburn either wins out or loses out. I think a 12-1 Auburn team gets a BCS nod, unless they lose 35-0 in the SECCG.
P.S. There is nothing mythical about a national championship that is earned by playing games on the field. There is nothing mythical about the pair of crystal footballs in the LSU trophy case.

Ohhhhhhhhh...so if the NCAA doesn't recognize something, it must be mythical. That makes sense.

I love the third grade logic on the rant. Why would you seek to devalue the two national titles won by LSU in the 2000's by suggesting they are not credible in some way?

quote:Yes LSU will get a BCS Bowl (if they win out & are top 4) but not the Sugar Bowl. SC would represent the SEC in the Sugar Bowl and I would be shocked if they matched up LSU & Carolina in the Sugar. The folks from the Sugar Bowl would likely take TCU or Boise (whichever team The Rose Bowl doesn't take)
This has been covered as well. If LSU wins out and the CheAUters drop the SECG, LSU will be ranked ahead of Auburn and will get the nod. The top four ranked teams all get BCS bowls.
