Okay I’ll play.
The ERA is inflated because Anderson, Eyanson, Evan’s and Cowan have 49% of your innings pitched.
In the other 184 eligible innings pitched.
156 hits allowed
206 strikeouts
122 walks
37 hit batters
Only one guy with an ERA under 4 (Schmidt 3.95), which is inflated by midweek stuff because he’s been bad in conference play.
Not good.
In conference play, the staff minus the 4 aforementioned pitchers have the following stats:
50 IP
56 hits allowed
47 walks
14 hit batsmen
43 runs allowed (41 earned)
Cool, now do at least 4 other staffs in the SEC for us to look at how production looks for other schools outside of their top 4 pitchers.
ETA: Texas is spectacular, I think we all know that.

Why wouldn’t he? He’s an excellent pitching coach.

quote:because this board is full of idiots they’ll discredit Yeskie development of Anderson but will shite on him because the whole bullpen isn’t throwing like 2009 Matty Ott.
Why wouldn’t he? He’s an excellent pitching coach.

LSU pitching has actually been pretty good. The problem is we focus on the occasional outings where it has been incredibly bad. Ben McDonald was talking this past weekend about how the average miss for a mlb pitcher is 11 inches. As I’ve said before many on this board would benefit from watching more mid majors play. LSU is not the only school that sometimes struggles to find the strike zone.

Even using Texas, if you take out their top two starters and top two relievers, their team ERA jumps from 3.15 to 3.90
