Unfortunately the season is long. Come November depth is essential. Big blow

Well yeah. It definitely hurts out depth on DL If Lac's injury is serious. It's not a stretch to assume at least one more DL will suffer an injury before now and the end of the season.

Yes! LaCouture is waaaayyyy better than most on here realize. This was a big blow.

LaCouture is a space eater, I'd sub him for Tra Valentine, especially in this system.

Theyre not huge losses

A three year starter is not a huge loss. Got it.

I love the chicken littles in this thread. At the end of the year Herron looked better that CL. Obviously I would want as many good players as possible, but y'all act like Lacatoure is the deciding factor in our season. He's maybe our 4th best Dlineman. (Neal, Godchaux and Key depending on what you classify him as).

Like I said, he's just a space eater, and not an elite one at that. Valentine is in his 3rd year, we can plug and play him immediately.

We have Godchaux, Gilmore, Frank Herron, Valentine, Clark, Ed Alexander, Rashard Lawrence, Glen Logan

We have 8 DT/NT, 5 upperclassmen...I think we'll be ok.

I'm not saying he won't be missed (if he's truly out the whole season), but to act like the season is off the rails if we lose him is dumb.

Hate to be this guy, but do you remember what happened to CL in November?

It's certainly not good news... Depth took a major blow yesterday.. Freshman will need to be huge for us...

Right, while it certainly does not help.. it's a position that will be rotated any ways. That's great he has valuable experience, but it's not like the others can't be plugged in.. or he was some heavily impactful player. Not trying to take anything away from him. He's a good player.

Wish he was healthy no doubt, but he shouldn't make or break the season. He very well could have gone pro any ways.. This is why we have to continue building up the front.. and we are. Getting Valentine back is very helpful. So I'll imagine it as he went pro and we got Valentine in his place.

Washington may be a harder loss to take from some reports.. but who knows. We just need to get healthy and stay that way.. as do most teams.

Rewatch the Alabama game--he was the only one making plays behind the LOS..

Yes. Lacouture was part of the "Finally, we have upperclassman" strategy we've been pounding on. We are light on the DL (proven and experienced bodies) and he has the most starts on the team on the line. It is a catastrophic loss to that unit and one that probably downgrades us by one game. The margins in SEC play are slim. One bust by a new face can be the difference between a 17-14 win or a 21-17 loss.

Huge loss no matter how you look at it. He was the projected starter, now that means we lose a rotation guy for our depth. We been talking about finally having depth along the what, the D Line!

Thank God we have some D Line depth now, last year this would have been crippling!

Based on what? I guarantee he hasn't been working as hard as Lacature has. And he certainly hasn't had anywhere near the amount of reps Lacouture has had. This isn't a video game. You don't just plug people in and they all of a sudden play to their ability

CL is capable, but not a exceptional player. He is not the takeover a game type of Lineman. The younger guys have the talent to be thos type of linemen. We will be fine

It is a loss and not a good one but not a catastrophic or any loss. This team has enough talent and bodies to make up for him being gone. You don't want this to happen but it happening now over the week of game one or mid season is better.

Coaches want consistency & accounability. That's what CL brought. The other guys aren't bringing that or they would have been playing ahead of him not only this year, but the last 2 years.

Yet, he's been the best lineman we've had up until this point. Other than Arden Key, LSU hasn't had a 18 year old true freshman defensive lineman register over 20 tackles in 15 years.

I agree with everything you said, and I think Lacouture is a solid contributor, he is also the player that I thought would have the hardest time in Arandas scheme, IMO he seems to be a prototype 4-3 DL. I think that later in the year, Gilmore and Herron were playing very well and should be able to fill in nicely. Lawrence or Alexander are physically far along for freshmen as well, so hopefully one will provide some needed depth.

Neal, Key, Bower and Clark are a decent group of ends, if Roddy or Martin can come in and add a little speed, especially Martin we may be ok there as well. Overall, the hit of Washington may be more problematic thru the grind of SEC play.
