Does the coaching staff encourage M. Smith and S. Ryan to explore the portal?

Does anyone see them getting better next year?

No. Maason can eat up space but Sage Ryan would be a walk-on on past LSU defenses

Maason Smith will likely enter the draft. He's a 2nd round pick at the least just on potential alone.

Sage Ryan is playing out of position out of necessity.

Maason, no.

I find it truly remarkable that Sage Ryan was ever considered a 5 star football player.

You want less bodies on D? Really? Especially at DB?!

The career expectations for DL are pretty short. I could see him taking the gamble on the NFL.

Good for him because he has done nothing at LSU.

I thought that earlier in the season, now I’m not so sure.

Agree he will likely leave but he should come back.

First year after a bad knee injury can be really hard, especially for a big guy. If he returns and puts in the right work, he’s a guy who could drastically improve his NFL stock.

Flip side is he risks another injury.

I think he can be a lot better next year if he stays.

I don't think Sage should be playing defense really. Sage is better suited on offense.

We are too low numbers wise at both positions to run anyone off right now. You guys seem to forget that we may have some recruits decommit if the entire defensive staff is wiped out, and we’ve seen what feast or famine it can be relying on the portal.

They have got to hold every player they can for a new DC and see what him and his staff can do with them.

Where do these predictions of Mason Smith being a high draft pick come from? NFL teams don’t draft guys based on how they look in a football uniform.

I was asking a question. Do we not know who both of these players are? After watching both play, I do not know what they think they are doing or what the coaches expect to be different. It is an exercise in futility. No?

I hope they’re back. We need to stop the turnover on defense. I hope every eligible player is back.

I remeber hearing that Ryan would start for LSU if he wasnt in HS. “He’d start this week if he was on the team”. Dude has been under coached or he is just not good

They’d better be more concerned with keeping Perkins from heading to the portal.
