Based on how the current DLs are playing with Davis' coaching, Smith, fully healed from his knee injury, would likely be playing like a beast and into a first round grade this year.

And Maason Smith has yet to play a single down for Jacksonville this year. Just because that poverty franchise drafted him doesnt mean he was good, or that it was a smart decision. 2nd Round Pick at a position of need and not playing a single down 3 weeks in is not a great look.

Ok? He got a multimillion dollar signing bonus and is making $2 million a year. You think that if he was playing for LSU right now he would suddenly be playing every snap in the NFL next year? The NFL employs good coaches too.

With the correct coaching, absolutely. Maason was a shadow of himself last year, had awful film, quit on multiple occasions, and was bullied. TBob even called him out which is rare and said he was tired of watching him hand fight.

Just because he's making money right now, doesn't mean he'll be on that roster next week. Jemarcus Russel was the number 1 draft pick and made Millions. Do you think he was great as well?

He’s still getting coached in the NFL…

In college he was, but what does he have to do with anything? He left after his junior year. If he had come back for his senior year do you think he would have been successful in the NFL?

I actually think he does. Think about Maason Smith. He’s came back. Didn’t perform probably like he needed to but Maason Smith is NOT Harold Perkins

Smith had NFL measurables for his position. Perkins doesn’t because it’s not really clear what his position is? He’s too small to be a 3 down ILB or edge rusher in the NFL. He’s not quick or instinctive enough to be a DB. People like to use Micah Parsons as a comp, but many fail to realize Parsons was 6’4, 245 coming out of college. Perkins is (most likely) 6’0, 215-220.

The media/fans all still remember his 2022 performance. However, he hasn’t been that player for (now) almost 20 games since that dominant performance vs Arkansas…which with every game fades further into the background.

He’s a guy that has to overcome non-ideal measures with tremendous performance like the Honey Badger. Without those dominant performances NFL teams may be reluctant to use a 1st round pick on a guy they are not sure has an every down position.

No shot. Either goes pro or transfers. Perkins wore #7 in the purple & gold for the last time yesterday.

Zero reason to return. Get drafted on potential, get rehabbed by professionals, and really dig into the team that drafts himself playbook.

No, let’s wish him the very best in the NFL. Always a Tiger!
