Putting a can of Rotel Tomatoes (peppers) in Gumbo is fine. That is what you see in the picture. The Chimes does the same.

U are so right, some of these dudes don't even know how gumbo tastes. I brought a bowl to some one up here & they say they don't eat okra? So I said fine & took it back & gave to some else!

You can add tomatoes in a roux based Gumbo. I add a can of Rotel to mine and I make one of the darkest rouxs you have ever seen.

Absolutely correct!
Don't know if does or he doesn't use tomatoes but, I bet he puts a scoop of potato salad to top off of each bowl!
