Not wanting to settle on a head coach that hasn't won it all repeatedly is not bad... but it is not realistic to think every possible candidate is salivating for a phone call from LSU.
It's the downside of firing the second best guy in the toughest conference.
Yet here we are.

You don't think LSU can do better than a position coach they picked up off the street a couple of years ago?
You make it sound like Coach O is a grad assistant or some High School coach they grabbed. He's been a coach and recruiter for a long long time. Had one bad stint as a head coach, but bounced back and put together a nice run in the interim at USC. Right now he is saying the right things, appears to have learned from past mistakes at Ole Miss, and there has been a noticeable improvement to our team.
Look, a head coach needs to be a manager, leader, and the face of our program. However, he's only as good as the guys around him. If he can recruit top talent (proven) and get quality coaches (See Pete Jenkins) then I don't know that LSU needs a big name X's & O's type coach.
So no, I'm not being subjective in my thought that Coach O can be a great fit for our program.

Yet no one picked him up as a position coach or otherwise until LSU called him a year and a half later.

I'll let you do the math.
He had an emotional ride at USC, was offered to be retained on the coaching staff, but felt too devastated to stick around after he wasn't hired as the head coach.
The man then sits out a year for any number of reasons, probably trying to do a little soul searching, and you think that LSU simply scooped him up one year later off the street like he was some recently fired dip shite?

I would say yes as it means you have turned your back on the team and this season. If it means that Coach Orgeron becomes the head coach next season because we run the table and win our next seven games, then I am all for that.
We have a number of young men who returned for this season when they could have gone to the NFL after last season. I am not ready to throw away this season just so someone can or cannot be the head coach next year.
Here, someone else can now have the soap box

That's an understatement. At our rival no less.

Where he lost two his two biggest rivals.

You are being the literal definition of subjective.
If Coach O is the best we can do given the amount of money we can throw around, then the reality is that we aren't a top 5 or top 10 job.

You aren't a bad fan. You are a logical one that isn't going ape shite after wins against Mizzou and USM. Let Coach O finish out the year and then pass judgement. He's done a good job so far, but even he acknowledged the competition is about to get tougher.

Lyle !There isn't any better , that is why the greatest coach in LSU history brought him here !

No but wait till you see how we handle The next five games. If we win Every game , but lose to Bama in a 41-45 shoot out then I think he has a chance. If we lose two games I say we go another route.

Do you actually know that did, because I haven't heard of one before or since he resigned.

Perhaps, but do you not 1) Think he can learn from his mistakes and 2) Not see a marked change in his coaching philosophy?

I'm not being emotional. There is no rah-rah in my previous post. I think he's got a very nice track record in many aspects of his career. He's shown the ability to improve and knows how to be a leader.
I'll admit that I don't know that he's necessarily a long term solution. It'll be interesting to see how things go once the emotion wears off.

It just makes you tone deaf. He's going to be the coach. He's already won the job if you listen to what the pundits are saying. He's the Cajun Pete Carroll. It's set in stone so get used to it.

Go look up Les Miles record at OSU..........
. That guy did pretty good here and he was nothing more than a recruiter with quality assistants........

You people are fools I swear. Orgeron has LSU playing better than they have in years and y'all are stuck on some guy you really don't know a whole lot about other than he's the hot new name that has Houston playing well. Has Houston been playing well the last two weeks?? shite, they lost to Navy. Lol. Be careful what you ask for when you already have a good coach who is also a helluva recruiter in the safe house.
