Honestly, I thought their streak was a little bit of a fluke.
Never understood how they beat UF 2 out of 3 at the Box.
I just think they were a little over/rated

We shite the bed in the end but few teams had argument to be an 8th seed. LSU was super hot at the end of the year in arguably the toughest conference.

You tend to look for a first pitch when you are terribly scared of a curve ball/ slider in the dirt.
If you recall, early in the year they were taking the first pitch almost every at bat. You want to look for that first pitch fast ball for fear of a two strike curve. The same thing happened to Romero, who was a first pitch hitter until people wised up and started throwing first pitch sliders.

I think we do get a little bump because of who we are, and the perceived strength of the conference.
quote:

We beat the #1 team 3 of 5 and were HOT at the end of the season, going like 14-3 (estimate) against the HIGHEST competition before the seeds were selected.

#1 Florida is also getting a little bump, and I really don't expect them to win it all in Omaha. They might not get there.

The "HIGHEST competition"? Give me a break.
3-0 (with a mighty struggle) against Arkansas, who didn't even make the SEC tourney.
4-0 with a couple of tight games vs Tennessee, who went one and done in the SEC tourney. Took a great late rally to beat them, and the only postseason chance they had was to win the SEC tourney.
2-0 (easily could have been 0-2) vs Notre Dame, who finished at .500 and went nowhere.
1 win against Miss St, which evened the season series at 2-2; they also didn't make it out of their hosted super regional.
1-0 vs Northwestern St.
3-3 against Florida... we are totally hanging our hat on that, but we faced them without Alonso, their best batter. While he was out, they struggled, not winning either the SEC regular season or tournament titles. Even with him back, Florida may not make it to Omaha.

We did have a good, strong run, but let's not go overboard. We did enough to earn hosting a regional, but if we weren't "LSU" we don't get a seed.

Oh shut up. How many national seeds advanced to Omaha??

So sick of LSU fans like you that just say LSU didn't deserve a ranking without looking at the competition.

Every seasonal ranking is unique to the teams around you. We just made it in and we deserved. Ole Miss just missed out and went o-2 in their regional and they were just as hot.. Miss st who won the sec lost as well. It's baseball

LSU was ranked where they should have been given their record and the record of others

Don't you know if LSU wins in any sport they are over rated and all the teams they play are cup cakes!

Pre-season without question IMHO. Much like Kentucky in hoops we are rated on reputation much of the time in the pre-season rankings.

As for landing the Super I think maybe the conference was a bit overrated this year and we got points for finishing fourth even though the SEC was not as good as usual. JMO.

I also think there is a sentiment that LSU overachieved this year because they were not as talented as they usually are and still finished fourth in the SEC.

I personally think we ended up about where we should have with the talent at hand and relative to the talent of our peers.

Hey, better than underachieving like some other teams on campus.

I believe we do to a degree because of Alex Box. Espn wants a full, rowdy stadium. LSU is one of the few colleges that can deliver that every time.

Don't laugh too hard. If you are lucky you will get old one day, can't see, fingers won't hit the correct keys, and young asses will show no respect.

I feel fortunate that I can sometimes make a point and get a response.

In LSU's last 4 games they had 42 hits to 36 opponent hits, outhit the opponent in 3 of 4 games, and were only outhit by 1 in the other. They went 1-3.

The team with the most hits wins most of the time, and teams should expect to be 50-50 in games where the team with fewer hits wins, so probably "should have" gone 3-1 or at least 2-2.

Over the course of a season, these things average out; LSU had a stretch against the Mississippi schools where they probably "should have" been 4-2 but instead were 2-4, then followed it up with an 11 game win streak where they probably "should have" been roughly 8-3.

Unfortunately, postseason baseball doesn't allow time for these types of corrections for the losing team, but Coastal Carolina certainly shouldn't expect to keep winning games where they commit 3 errors and give up 10 hits.
