that one hurt dude, it really did
No doubt, as it should have.
I said this the other day (and got shite for it), but Stony Brook had what, 7 people drafted? Thats an awful lot of talent.
There were a bunch of people on this site saying the loss was monumental. LSU losing to Stony Brook =/= Michigan football losing to App State. People bitching about it are no more than casual baseball fans.
The success of teams in baseball, and even to a certain extent basketball, has a lot to do with guys playing well at the right time. A team with hot bats and at least one quality pitcher can make noise in the postseason in college baseball. Look at MLB rosters right now and notice how many guys on the mound came from small schools.
Contrast that with college football, where there is a clear demarcation of talent between large schools and small schools. Players at LSU are bigger, stronger, faster, more talented than a players at small schools. Its just a fundamentally different sport.

It's called fan for a reason, the majority of fanbases do the same thing given a certain level of performance. This is nothing unique. Apparently, complaining about it isn't unique either.

I counted 24 NCs for LSU baseball, so.. Yeah.

I'm with Josh, and let's be clear, it is very admirable that a fan base can cheer for your team, and not be rude to the opponents. A little bit of good natured smack talk with the other team is ok, as long as most of the effort is made to pull for your guys, and not just be there to be against the other team. However, there is a line that at some point does not need to be crossed. And that line was definitely crossed last June.
That was about as polite and nonconfrontational as I could word my feelings on the above topic.

Baseball is a different sport. If their outfielder makes a great diving catch. I'll probably give him an applaud and say good catch.
On the other hand i do agree giving Stony Brook a victory lap may have gone too far.

I think this year is unique in that LSU set the bar high early in the season and since have come back down to earth. The fans have seen what they are capable of and are pressing just as much as some on the team are for a return to that earlier level.

the problem is there are too many armchair quarterback LSU football fans that cheer for the baseball team and know nothing about baseball.
These account for most of the dumb baseball posts.
