I sincerely hope so! I've had enough of his play calling for a lifetime. He deserves most of the blame for the ineptitude this season.

Go get Oregon's present OC.

Crowton's spread looks great for awhile and then defenses catch on. As i'm sure both OregonDuckFan and LLD73 can atest to.... Crowton's playcalling becomes so transparent that everyone knows what he's going to run before the team even breaks the huddle. Trust me LSU fans will be calling for his head within the next couple seasons.... it happened at BYU.... their fans tried to tell us Duck fans we didn't listen and it happened to us.... I'm saying without a doubt this is the dumbest move LSU has EVER made.

Hey TigerSage, I'm not trying to call you out or anything, I'm just wondering where you are hearing this stuff from. Reliable?

i would add schizoid to that because when crowton is faced with a pretty clear indication of what should be done in the game he must hear a voice telling him to do the exact opposite-- and he listens!

Did not Les take care of things last year on defense like he needed to do.. He is smart enough to know if there is a problem with the "O".. and fix it in due time. you know how he works... keep calm

I wish Miles and Crowton were replaced. We will be a one sided team for years. Count it.

Considering Crowton's offense has gotten us to a #8 BCS ranking with a freshman QB at the helm, Les has to be thinking about replacing such incompetence.

We don't pay his salary - I don't care what convoluted logic you use to show that we are a state school etc... it doesn't hold water

Louisiana STATE University???
yes, we do...

Sorry - let me rephrase that - We the students/taxpayers/rantards don't pay his salary directly. In fact a big portion of it is from Boosters/alumni etc.. - basically outside the school.

Therefore we have no direct control over him and the ones who do have it are in no hurry because they are not short-term minded imbeciles.

Just exactly what IS the Crowton system? Who the frick knows. Does anybody know what he's really trying to do?

If you haven't guessed yet,Crowton is trying to figure out how to run an offense with inexperienced QBs that have trouble reading SEC defenses.

How would you like it if your job performance was governed by kids who are just one or two years out of high school and virtually no job experience?

That is not an excuse. There are very many quarterbacks who are inexperienced but could still do well when they were young. Remember Stafford? Tebow won the Heisman as a sophomore and first year starter? Bradford his redshirt freshman year? Vick as a redshirt freshman?

So you think JJ is comparable in talent to a couple of future first round NFL QBs, and the only sophomore to every win the Heisman.

You are so full of B.S.

Besides, Stafford struggled as a freshman with just over 50% completion percentage and a 2:1 interceptions to TDs. ratio.

Tebow was a 5-star QB chosen specifically for Urban Meyers spread offense. Equating JJ to Tebow is total B.S.

Vick is a RB who took direct hikes in college and the NFL.

The Spin stops here.

That link echoes the analysis that was linked to and talked about in this thread: LINK

Lots of statisical info about Gary Crowton's coaching career in there. I posted a bunch of stats starting on page 12 onward.

CG's offense is one of the most experienced, smart QB-intensive one I've ever seen. What happens when you don't have already-developed Jr and Sr QB's for him to work with? We're seeing it. According to Bad Cat, we should resign ourselves to wait every 3-4 years for Crowton to develop his QB sufficiently enough to run the grab-bag offense he seems intent on running. Most of us have seen the pattern, and aren't willing to waste 3 years to have reasons to doubt what is right in front of us.

Guess what, your opinion doesn't count.

Waiting four years between BCS championships is a hardship you are going to have to live with.

You're right. That's why I stick to the facts. The facts are that CG has been a honeymoon OC and HC. As to an opinion about CG's future that does count, that belongs to Les Miles. How he makes up his mind will decide his future as LSU's HC. Another abysmal offensive season as this one next year, and he will sink with CG if he holds onto him. For me, CG is on the hot seat next year. Break the pattern or GTFO.

Non sequitur. I said nothing about winning BCS championships. To assume that LSU will win anything in 2011 is premature. The same criticism about the offense has continued all season. That's the context here. I'm talking about 3 years of ugly, frustrating, mediocre, and at times, plainly stupid, declining offensive production. This even overlooks what has become an as of yet unshakable misuse of playcalling, personnel, and game management.

As a fan, all I demand from the coaches is a team adept at execution, situational awareness, and hustle. Teams like that win way more than they will lose. There are always many games in a coach's W-L record are products of the vagaries and accidents in games and life beyond his control. You have me confused with a purely outcome-based ranter.
