LOL, what?

So, no true freshman has ever been a better player than a 2 year starter in the history of CFB?

Les Miles on national signing day:

Jarvis Landry was 18th nationally, No. 4 at the position and the No. 3 prospect in our state. He was the MVP of the Under-Armour Game. We expect that he will come in and again, compete to play, if not start.

Whether its Landry, I am open to someone who can catch the ball taking most of Shep's slot snaps. Landry is a real deal receiver.

Shep is a high school QB who has not yet demonstrated he can catch the ball at the level necessary to beat the top SEC and OOC teams. He does look great in sweeps, I will give you that.

I really want to see shep be successful because he was a scary amount of talent. He will be close to untouchable if he is able to figure out how to play the position.

All the offensive coaches were really impressed with Jakari Gore back in the Fall. I honestly think that Gore is going to get a chance to make a name for himself in the return game, but also might turn some heads in the Shepard spot in the slot.

Landry will probably get a look as a legit wideout before moving inside later on during his career.

There is a tendency here (no doubt fueled by what is seen on television) to believe that a freshman at a skill position can just show up and perform in the SEC the way he did in high school. Those guys are pretty rare. The freshmen who did well at LSU last season pretty much took all season to get to that level. It wasn't just random stupidity on the coaches' part that had them on the sidelines for most of the season.

I don't get what you are saying. I'm saying that I think Shep will play outside and Landry in the slot. Not that Shep is the backup to Landry.

I was responding to people who think that Shep is going to be the slot guy. I can see it going the other way. We'll see in the spring.

let Shepard focus more on a running role where he had his success this season.
He actually had more yds rec than rush, but those damn pass attempts aren't listed and stats probably misleading.
33 catches vs ?? drops?

Landry isn't that big, but he will bring the wood. He has one speed and it's "on". His speed is adequate given the precision of his route running. He rarely takes plays off and always wants the ball. He'll be a stud over the middle on crossing routes.

He ain't skeered for sure. I saw some D film on him. He's a hitter.
Maybe this year we throw some MOF stuff with new OC.
I think every bomb completed was deep middle in '10, but no crosses or rubs.

If by taking his spot you mean being a highly decorated 5 star that doesn't touch the ball enough, then God I hope not!
