Does it really matter that much??? The man can cheer for whoever he wants when LSU is not in it. He may be getting attention, but at least he's cheering. I've been to 5 or 6 games this year, and plenty in the past and I appreciate his enthusiasm.

I posted this in the other thread about CG but apparently it is anchored.

"I don't understand the disdain for this fan. he is a HUGE LSU fan and he goes all out to get the crowd involved. in fact, I consider him one of the staples of the renowned intimidation of the box contingent. and when he is no longer able to attend lsu baseball games, both at home and away, I for one will miss him."

For a grown man? Of course it is. If you want cheers, go to a fricking softball game.

...and if you want silence, then go to a fricking golf course.

Ok so i'm sorry to everybody for opening up this big can of worms, I never meant for this to get out of hand. At the end of the day I'm sure Chris is a good guy and if it works for the box, who am I to say otherwise. So here's to you Chris!!

Here's my problem with these overzealous cheerleaders:

They do the "GOOOOOOOOOOO". . . . . "TIGERS" thing damn near all game long. There are times when its appropriate, but in the second inning of the SLU game when we're up 5 runs? I just don't care to have a big sweaty man in my face screaming "GOOOOOOOOOOOO."

There is a time and place for almost everything.

But maybe the crowd had something to do with CSF doubling their season errors in one weekend playing at the box?

fricking absurd. Really. CSF cracked under the pressure of playing a very good team, not under the pressure of Chris Guillot and the cheering fans.

And are you going to tell me the players don't like hearing the crowd get pumped and cheer for them?

I am going tell you that the players are indifferent to the crowd CHANTING for them. The players love the amount of fans that show up and they love the roars for HRs and Ks, but they could care fricking less if someone is chanting "Go Tigers" in the stands. I promise you.

When Mainieri is bringing a recruit around the stadium, I highly doubt he sits him in the dugout and says, "Son, if you become a Tiger, you will have 8,000+ fans chanting "Go Tigers" at your baseball games." LOL, most high school stars would laugh in his face. That is right between good cafeteria food and a solid quantum physics program on most kids criteria for choosing a school.

The defense of these "super" fans and the credit they receive is fricking laughable.

Chris is a really nice guy. Is he an attention whore? Absolutely. But he is also someone who loves and is passionate about his team. For every fan he's pissing off, there's one who thinks he's great. You can't please everybody.

I got to know him while I was Batgirling (I just made that into a verb--booyah!) and he was extremely nice and helpful to us. As far as I know, most of the people behind the scenes (as well as the players) thought Chris was an okay guy.

Excellent post. I still feel he is an attention whore and a PITA at games. He is free to cheer, I am free to not like his act. I hav eno knowledge about him personally.

Is this really true? And if so, why would he be leading the cheers for not only a team who was playing against another SEC school, but also the same team that already beat us in the regionals last year? Just thought this was strange and that the board could have a field day with this one haha.

It was explained last year during the CWS that he was cheering for UCLA because if LSU was going to be eliminated, he wanted them to at least lose to the CWS champion. And at that time it looked like UCLA had a really good chance to win it all.
