Does Aranda figure out the Dan Mullen offense this year?

We haven't matched up against his offense the last couple years

I think a lot of that last year can be attributed to Phillips not being in the lineup but injuries happen and we need to overcome them.

Having them at home certainly helps. Hopefully that will be a night game.

Defense did pretty well last year. Let's hope the offense can pull its weight.

What about Special Teams?

Their offense scored what? 19 points? I’m much more worried about our offense than stopping theirs.

Our defense dominated the 2nd half against UF last year. Had the offense had just a decent game we win that one.

For the love of God can we stop Flippy Franks on the option play? It looked like it was happening in slow motion. Drove me crazy last year.

Mullen has schooled him the last two years.
The MSU beatdown was the worst SEC loss going back to the Saban era and the brook trout look game or the Bama Franchione game when Mauck wasn't available.

The score in Fla game was fine but it was the inability to stop Franks on that drive and they kept using that play over and over and LSU never adjusted - that was the difference in the game.

I mean Last year we only gave up 20, and one of those drives was under 50 yards.

We gave up 20 to Miss State in 2016

The only really bad game was 2017, and we had literally 3 DL.

And that was a pretty good Miss st team.

It’s not his best offense faces but not he’s mostly good

QB run schemes when there’s a good OL are always difficult to stop. The defense did relatively well against Mullen in 16 and 18 but the offense has shite the bed against MSU in 16 and 17 and we never really score a lot on UF anyway

You watched a different game to me. The only play that I thought Franks really made a good play on was the one he caught. Florida’s running plays were by far our biggest problem. Realistically when our defense only gives up 20 the game is on our offense.

We gave up 2 or 3 first downs at the end where a 3 and out would have given us great field position down 1 and plenty of time.

All they did was run Scarlett up the middle. Never been so disappointed in an LSU front 7.

The offense got the ball back with 8 and 2 minutes left.

They had 3 drives and scored -7 points.

I think LSU will match up well against Florida. Their OL is not projected to be very good and our defense is going to be one of the best in football. I would run a lot of quarters defense to keep Jacoby Stevens on the field to counter Mullen’s love of running the option.

I figure this year he will definitely figure out a way to set the edge better. UF absolutely murdered us on option plays to the outside last season, we got outmanned and they exploited it multiple times.

You will be able to tell real quick with Georgia Southern if we can stop the option.

Dan Mullen is a great offensive mind. He saw something in film where LSU would crash hard ok inside handoffs so franks would hold the ball like an inside handoff LSU would crash then they pitched it wide. Aranda adjusted and thy slowed them down more but it opened the middle on those late runs by Scarlett.

LSU had plenty of chances to win that game with the offense but the offense wasn’t really clicking yet at that point in the season.

LSU's DL was a work in progress almost the entire season. That killed us late v. Florida, and the offense shite the bed. We should be very solid up front this year, so I see LSU having a better outcome.

Tough to scheme against bigger, better players. The fact that we kept them from running away with it is a testament to Aranda's ability.

They played well but gave up a pathetic 75 yard drive mid way through the 4th right after LSU took the lead.
