Disagree. 21-0 is only a part (but unfortunately for us the most important part) of the story.

Consider this: can you even imagine the team that got its tail-kicked 21-0 going to Bama and beating them on their home field? Yet we did. How could they ever have happened?

The sequence of games is a huge factor in all of this. They GOT to play us again. We HAD to play them again.

There simply isn't enough data out there to determine who's "better." Bama proved they were better in an unprecedented scenario after they LOST the first game. We proved we were better in a first-time game scenario with no rematch in view. That's all we know for now.

LSU would have gotten a rematch given their SOS.

Quit whining.

Bama was better than LSU this year. So was their coach. Saban was outcoached in the first game, but he made Miles quit in game two.

The 1st game didn't prove LSU was better that's why everyone voted for a rematch Not many people felt LSU won the game moreso than Bama lost it. That's why they voted for the rematch.

The second game proved Bama was better that's why there was no split title.

Again LSU put together two drives of over 30 yards in 8 qtrs + OT.

Bama's offense was light years ahead. While LSU defense was stingy in the redzone, they could not force many 3 and outs to flip the field for the struggling offense.

The first game LSU only passed the 50 yard line once in the Second half. All this our Depth wore Bama down in the Second half is bull.

LSU's offense only put itself in position for points 2 time in two games.

While Bama's offense put itself in scoring position 15 or more times. While it didn't score pts every time(alot of that was due to LSU defense) Both games clearly favored Bama.

The season series was split 1-1. I think if they played three more times Bama would take two of the three. So as much as it pains me to say it, Bama was the better team

There were two games played by LSU/UA and in the two games there were actually 9 quarters played. LSU scored 1 point per quarter. UA scored 3 points per quarter.

So what does that mean? They were 2 entirely different games, about 2 months apart. If there were going to be a third game, do you think there is some rule that says this kind of point ratio would necessarily hold up?

No way.

LSU barely beat Bama the first time, they certainly clobbered us the 2nd time. But during the regular season we accomplished significantly more than they did, and that is still worth something.

This excuse is just totally false. Our coaches should have done much more than apparently WAS done to build on the idea of "let's show them some of OUR way of restoring order" or something like that.

I do not accept "they got to" versus "we had to" at all.

I hate to post on TR, but I've got to say LSU was probably never better than Bama, they just caught Bama on a bad day in November. LSU was the 34th best football team in the country though, and the gap between them and every team behind them was huuuuuuuge.

I agree that it shouldn't have been the case but IMO I still think the two teams approached the 2nd game differently. We played out tails off to win the first game and in some respects had nothing to show for it. Bama played stupid and wasn't penalized at all for it.

I think you're answering a different question than what the OP is asking. No one is debating if a NC is superior to a conf title. It is. The OP is asking if anyone thinks LSU is "better" than Bama (which I take to mean who would win the most games between the two base on what we observed in the first two games). Two different questions.

That is no doubt totally true...even though I think this certainly did not have to happen at all.

Yes. It's the entire body of work. If LSU played Bama again, LSU would win. Something was off during the NC game.

How many of those who still thinks that LSU was the best team actually was on the RANT Nov. 5th through Nov.27th. crying about the possibility of the rematch???? Seems like I remember just about every Tiger fan wanted to play Okie State who had lost to a "Nobody". All had seen the first game and "knew" deep down that it would be almost impossible to beat UA inthe BSCCG when the chips were down. Which was more fair LSU going to the big dance with two losses to inferior teams in 07 or UA going to the NCG with an overtime loss to the #1 team?

The fans and the players wanted no part of Bama again. Thats why they campaigned so hard against it. Then when it became inevitable, the false bravado spewed from the lsu fans was down right delusional. I saw some ridiculous predictions posted here.

I never seen a fan base talk themselves into really thinking they dominated a game won in OT by 3 pts. Especially when they were significantly out gained and the other team missed 4 fgs.

There was talk of lsu wore bama down in the in thre 2nd half, but lsu never got into scoring position and only crossed the 50 once in the second half in the 1st game.

I'm glad you've come to this conclusion after 550 posts. And I'd just say that Bama caught LSU on a bad day in January. See how that works?

LSU was slightly better on November 5th.

Bama was considerably better on January 9th.

The gap afterwards from LSU / Bama to everyone else was considerable, to say the least.

i love how people want to mention body of work and what we did during the season. we had a great team and were the 2nd best team in the nation. but its not Like Bama would not have smoked our schedule as well. they would have ran through our schedule too

Alabama did nothing outside of one Trent run in the 2nd half and LSU started blowing up all of his running lanes.

Saban got tense and LSU ate it up.
