LSU physically whipped Alabama the last 2 and a half quarters on 11/5.

Alabama housed LSU on 1/9.

Yeah Alabama ended up being the better team but there is not much separation.

Miles is a great coach??? You must have missed the NCG this year. What a joke. He stood on the sideline and did nothing as his team went down in flames. Less then 100 yards of Offense is a disgrace. Saban is a great coach, and Miles is NO Saban.

Absolutely. LSU went undefeated how I remember it.

Thought we were the better team. That's why LSU came out on top in Nov....despite the struggles at QB.

As far as the Walrus Rape on Jan 9. Still scratching my head. Tough beating the same squad twice...especially when you run a 1942 offense

"Better"... such an arbitrary term. Better pure talent? Better season/resume? Better meaning who would win 3 out of 5 (talent + coaching)? I see people arguing all these aspects. OSU argued that they were better than Bama because they had more quality wins. Bama argued they were better than OSU because they didn't lose to a nobody. USC spent the last decade arguing they were better because of their rankings on Rivals.

Do I think Bama was a better team this year than LSU? Yes, but I'm biased. I'd like to think that the average outsider would agree, but that could also be my bias talking.

For agruments sake let me break it down from the eyes of a Bama fan:

LSU beat Bama in overtime in a game where Bama seemed to hold a statistical edge everywhere but the scoreboard. Had Bama's kickers not come out lifeless and missed 4 field goals... BUT they did, and LSU came away with the victory.

Game 2 doesn't need a recap except to say that saying "we didn't show up" goes both ways. Had our kicker not had the worst performance of his life...

If you want to stick with game results then it's 1-1 and LSU won the SEC and Bama won the NC. If you want to break down the performances so you can argue LSU was clearly the better team... I don't see that as being a very easy argument.

My point isn't to harass, but rather to say that as usual both sides have their reasoning for why they underperformed in one of the encounters, and at this point as usual it doesn't matter.

Seriously, those were not chip shots. Quit pretending they were.

But yeah, the QB play puts Bama as the better team, although lsu still had a far more impressive season and did not get a do-over.

But this was supposed to be Bamas year, not lsu's. Lsu is a much younger team and was never supposed to be as good as bama this year. Fortune smiled on bama in a way that it hasnt for any otherteam in the bcs era, so better team or not it certainly was the luckiest.

Bama had a much better offense and a superior defense. Though Lsu defense did not give up many pts they gave up yards and could not force a 3 and out to flip the field for the offense.

Lsu offense was only able to put together 2drives of 30 yards or more in 8 qtrs plus ot while the bama offense put together around 15.

He is. Let me guess, you're argument is Jan. 9, right?

Look at what he's done here. He's done things the untouchable Saban didn't do. Interesting that never is brought up.

You can always jump off the bandwagon and go pull for another team, you know?

Make sure you wear that black arm band all year too.

Some of our fans are flat out nuts.

GFY and cheer for Saban if you're so infatuated with him.

I don't understand how any LSU fan can or would concede to the Bama myth of the better team. LSU had the more complete team in Nov. On Jan. 9 LSU had crap for a game plan, mental constipation on the coach's part (no adjustments to said crap plan), and yet the LSU defense STILL had the Tigers in realistic striking range going into the 4th quarter - with two outstanding QBs on the bench and poor, hapless JJ out there without a clue all game.

There is NO DAMN WAY we are better than Bama. They manhandled us at the line, everywhere. They have more overall talent. They had 2 RBs better than any of ours.

Hate to admit, but LSU needs a few elite guys to compete w/Bama and Devil Nick...

It is a push

Les out coached Saban first time, Saban won the second time

Both teams are even with a slight edge to Bama having the older more seasoned players on Defense. Our weak leadership at QB has always been our weakness and Bama attacked it in the payback game. JJ looked lost and if Lee had gotten in the interceptions would have made the game much worse. Now we return the veteran defense with a huge upgrade in QB.

As I've said here dozens of times to the dismay of the Miles haters:

Miles didn't need a mulligan to beat Saban in 2011. Miles didn't ride Bama's coattails to NOLA on Jan 9th. Miles wasn't begging on ESPN for another shot.

Saban and Bama did.

this. Posi-tigers just sit and rip the realists as MIles haters, but this discussion has nothing to do with MIles, and they cant be the least bit objective. Bama was better. Nov. 5th was a fluke bc Bama wasnt ready for JJ in 1st half.

it gets very hard to take people seriously on here when they cant see the apparanet differences in those two teams. Our offense might score 20 points in 20 quarters against that team.

I thought quite a few were simply tongue-and-cheek trolling. But, that just isn't the case, for the most part.

Hard to say.

First game - LSU stuck with what was working, fought hard, and the lines started dominating late in the game. I don't buy the missed FGs as an excuse because those were not chip shots.

Second game - LSU had a piss poor offensive gameplan, ran Jefferson 14 times, while Hilliard got the ball 5 times. Saban had a fantastic gameplan, McCarron was extremley accurate.

Bascially, both teams didn't play their best when they lost.

The difference came down to QB play. McCarron did not have a stellar performance on 11/5. He was so-so, and it may have cost Bama the game.

McCarron had a near flawless performance in the championship game and Bama won.

LSU had slightly above average QB play going into 11/5, which gradually dropped the rest of the season to downright abysmal QB play by the time the NC game started.

I would give the nod to Alabama because of QB play.

I keep seeing that Bama wasn't ready for JJ. Bama should have been ready for JJ. There was no good reason for Bama not to be ready except they were out coached.

They're offense couldn't move the ball and our offensive line blocked pretty well.

You negatiger live to worship Sabin won't acknowledge Les outcouched Sabin in the 1st game.

Were 1-1. We had the more difficult season and the better record. They have the nationchapionship. And this why it sucks so bad. But it doesn't negate the intire season.
