When u don't have a qb that can throw the ball we are lucky to win 8 games. Les's game plan in the last game sucked. Try to win the game with JJ throwing the ball. Jl would have been a much better chose but Les still loves JJ. I think Mett would have been much better than who we played. It was obvious from the 1 quarter we were doomed if he left JJ in the game! Same hard headed Miles!!!

LSU as good of talent and I could make an arguement that LSU is/was deeper.

We never got off the mat against Alabama on the 9th....they were simply more focused and ticked off

We just didn't use our offensive weapons effectively...mainly because JJ was terrible all night long

100th in pass offense is killing us (4 years in a row)...Miles clearly should have played JL as the starter every single game and let JJ come in off the bench

Miles need to correct the pattern or he won't be signing any more RR talent

I think they were pretty equal, which explains the 11/5 game, and why the 1/9 game was so infuriating.

I think they would go 5 - 5 against each other.....with maybe a slight edge to Bama since they have 5 first rounders.

I dispute it. LSU was a much better team all the way around. However, they were not prepared for the Championship game, and they got beat. That doesn't diminish what the LSU team accomplished and the over-the-top manner in which they did it. Our biggest problem was Jefferson was unprepared and the offensive game plan for the Championship game was terrible. But overall, yes, LSU was as good or better than Alabama, top to bottom.

In upcoming draft, Kiper has ranked players by position. Bama has top RB, top safety, 2nd best corner, top OLB, third best ILB, third best center. LSU has third best DT, and top corner.
My point is that they have more experienced draft worthy players than we do and it showed in that one game.

Not to beat this horse again. BUT If BAMA's offense played us one dimensional and afraid to throw it down field, we would be given all the accolades to how much greater our defense was.

They basically went in knowing they were playing the run and option until we made them back off it by throwing down field. We never did and it was too simple to Tee off on us. I also think we loss our momentum with the O-Line saying oh shite not 4 quarters of this crap again.

Lets move on now.

If we cant pass the ball, we never had a chance. They werent prepared for our option plays (only thing that worked Nov 5) the first game.

bullshite...they were prepared but the big difference is that on 11-5 our oline did it's job.

quote:

In the BCS game, they realized Les was sticking with JJ and that if they shut down the option and run plays in general, they had us.

more bullshite...and they were licking their chops in anticipation of the other guy who just stands there and throws careless passes into coverage. having a mobile qb was our best option but again it all boils down to the complete and utter failure of our oline to sustain the run game and protect the passer.

quote:

Les proved in the games leading up to the BCS that he was leaving JJ in come hell or high water.

Les and staff, whether you like to admit it or not, make their decisions based on performance....not emotion. the fact that so many of you ignore is that JL's performance in four games against bama was, frankly, putrid. the bcs game was, if my memory serves me correctly, against bama. only a fool would have given JL the chance to throw that game away when we were only one score away for most of the game.

We were a better team on November 5th. They were a better team on January 9th. We won 1 more game than they did. We played a significantly better OOC schedule.

The teams were nearly identical and went 1-1. I don't know what you want me to say?

We didn't go 13-1 cause of our passing offense.

We ranked #102 in passing offense after Oregon, #101 after Kentucky, #99 after Auburn, and #100 after Arkansas.

We went into 1/9 netting almost 220 yds a game rushing the ball, 17th in the nation, and ended the game with a net rush of 39 yds.

JJ played poorly, but we got stuffed in both our lines. No way I ever saw this LSU team rushing for under 40 yds.

We were better in the 1st game and they were better in the 2nd game.

We will see who is better in 2012.

I really don't believe that either team was better. In the history of "split titles" I dont see how much more evenly split this could be 13-1 and 12-1; 1-1 vs each other. Unlike Bama fans, however, I'm not about to start claiming titles that we didn't win. Let's just say that I think this year was more evenly split than '03 ever thought about being when LSU and USC never faced each other, although the majority of voters wouldn't agree with me. (And FWIW, I think '03 LSU would have murdered USC...)
Anyway, the diference in the Jan. 9 game was Alabama's kicker didnt choke as many times and JJ choked for the entire game this time instead of half of it.

I watched the game again, & the biggest reason that we looked so bad was the play of JJ. He was absolutely terrible on 3rd conversions with fumbles & poor passing.

As for the o-line, it was not as bad as you think. It is not going to be easy to move the ball, but you must make 3rd down conversions with less than 5 yards to go. JJ went back to his old ways of not letting the ball go & scrambling which played right into their hands. It was not until Bama got a decent lead in the 2nd half when they starting bringing 5-7 men on blitzes that JJ had no time.

On the other hand, McCarron had a great game but Bama's gameplan helped a lot with that. They bootlegged with short passes to tight end, & ran timing patterns with great throws & catches. Bama's o-line in NO WAY controlled the line of scrimmage. They just moved the qb in the pocket, passed on 1st down, & threw timing patterns. As opposed to having JJ make some reads.

However, all that being said, LSU probably could not have beaten Bama that particular night because of the revenge factor. But, with some decent qb play, LSU could win again. Heck, even Bama's special teams were better on 01/09/12 & they are at the bottom of the SEC in couple of those categories.
