I thought the two teams were as evenly matched as you could have two teams be matched. The two areas where Alabama was clearly superior was head coach and QB.

If the team that showed up on Nov. 5th should up on Jan. 9th this wouldnt even be a discussion. Bama knew Jefferson was gonna play, knew he didn't threw well, and knew the option was coming. Pretty easy gameplan to develop there. The "mystery" of the LSU offense on Nov. 5th kept Bama honest and allowed for us to win that game.

If we played a 10 game series, I don't know if the record would be much different than 5-5. Obviously Jan9th went really poorly for us. I think we try things differently on offense if we played again. I also think Bama's QB doesn't make those passes again.

It's not just about JJ! They were tearing our O-line up. McCarron was completing unreal passes. Even their special teams outplayed ours. How can anyone look at the two teams and think LSU was more talented in the first place?

Yes. Just because we were flat for one game doesn't negate a whole season. Bama had an easier schedule and road to the NCG.

I dont think it was a "team didnt show up" issue. If you take a step back and just look at the game plans, Saban's vs Miles', its clear that we never had a chance. The only way to break the inevitable was to insert a passing QB into the game. We all know how that story ended. Our DB's could not cover their WRs which was very surprising imo.

i don't think Lee or Mett could've won that game either. our o-line was playing like shite.

It'd be interesting to hear what Nick Saban would have to say about LSU's gameplan for the NC. I wonder if he would share his thoughts once he retires.

Your right, about the purple and gold glasses. But the 1st game of the century answered this question. While Bama made mistakes that hurt themselves, so did LSU.... And anyone who thinks the best LSU team showed up Nov. 9th, is a fricking moron. Both teams were very equal, and if one wants to get technical, we were 1-1 last season against each other...

say what you want, but you'd listen if he started talking about how shocked that they were that we tried nothing on offense. I'm sure he'd mention how they couldn't believe that we came out at the half and ran the same plays that didn't work over and over again.

They were on par with one another. Both were very, very dominant teams. What happened on Jan. 4th was not indicative of what team was better. That was a Les Miles debacle. He was due for a screw up and unfortunately it came in the worst game on the biggest national stage possible.

nov 5th was a fluke. they werent ready for the option in the first half.

we surprised them and got 3 points. in the 2nd half the offense did nothing. Even off Mo's pick we lost 4 yards on the drive and got the 3.

Defense played great but if that offense with JJ played 20 quarters against bama they maybe score 20 points.

Might have phrased it a little wrong, but the offensive gameplan from that game wasn't there. Seeing what was working and not working and expanding on that was what was missing. Surprisinly their WRs getting that open would be the second issue with the game.
