Afraid you may be right but, take in the consideration that he backed into the NC game with 2 loses against the Ohio Suckeyes that should degrade his NC status somewhat. Since he has not even went 500 in the sec with his own players

It's amazing how quickly you've adopted the mindset of the Rant in such a short amount of time. Why don't you go look at how Saban got to the championship in 2003, or more recently, how the stars had to align for Florida to play in the National Championship against the same Ohio State team the year before.

As per your second argument: 1) All LSU players were Miles players as of 2005, 2) Miles last two teams have gone exactly .500 in the SEC.

he backed into the NC game

Every time I see this, I wonder: how did he back into it? Maybe: everybody else backed OUT of it?

I don't remember a lot of other teams declining to go. "Oh, no, Les, you take it. We're good."

More like they crapped the bed when they had a chance to get into it, and LSU beat them in the computer polls.

It's impossible to see anyone "backing into" the NC game. You get there on merit. LSU had 2 losses? So did everyone else except OSU.

Well, you just proved you don't know WTF you are talking about... So your sources tell you he could go 11-1 (8-0) and get fired. Just shut up, dude.

Depends if he loses to Bama, Fla & Ole Miss again. Due to the ridiculous buyout, 7-5 may get him another year if he beats Bama or Fla. If he loses to all three, he is a goner.

Hard to say. But it definitely will get a rocket jammed up Crowton's arse and launch him outta here for sure.

You are kidding, right?

"degrade" a NC? How do you do that or better yet, why would an LSU fan seek to "degrade" a LSU NC?

Whatever the case, that BCS NC is just that, a BCS NC and it carries all the weight/honor with it that the ones before it did and the ones that came after it will. imo

The answer no. In fact he can go 4-8 and he won't be fired unless there is some huge scandal.

Rant away but he is going nowhere anytime soon unless he is the one that bolts.

I highly doubt we go 7-5 or worse.

7-5 or worse is more likely than 8-4 or better.

LSU will not fire a coach that has never had a losing record at LSU.

Agreed.

In all seriousness, though, I hope that is not still the case at LSU. I had hoped that the days of LSU just hoping to be mediocre were gone. At $4 million a year, they better be.

Of course, exact same situation since Smoke won an NC.

Was he a coach that never had a losing season at LSU and got fired?

If you wanted to restrict it to coaches who won the NC, then you should have put that in your sweeping pronouncement.

I think the implication was that if we lose to UNC, we aren't going anywhere near 11-1 and 8-0.

you sure he's an LSU fan...I have a feeling there are more non-LSU fans on here than people realize.

If you fall from an airplane a mile in the air, at some point, you will be half a mile in the air. Even though not many people who are falling are half a mile in the air, you are still falling.
