Do you worry that a revamped, higher octane offense might make defense worse?

If the drives are going to be shorter (time wise), LSU’s defense is going to be out in the field more. That means gassed earlier, giving other team chance to score more.

Don’t believe this could happen? Virtually every single higher octane offense than LSU had a defense that allowed more points.

I am not quite ready to sacrifice spots in various defensive rankings so the offense can look more snazzy. LSU needs to uphold its reputation has a brick wall defense.

It’s better to win a game 24-7 than 49-21

Is scoring more touchdowns really worth potentially abandoning the program’s identity as a defensive Godzilla?

I’d rather score 3 points than 0 against bama

Why don’t we just move the ball efficiently instead of going 3 and out and having the defense play 20 minutes per half

Yea let’s continue to put up 0 points against Bama. That seems like a solid strategy.

No more than an offense that continually goes 3 and out.

No. Elite defense will consistently makes stops, sacks, and turnovers when needed.
will high scoring offenses they'll occassionally give up 24/31 or so ect, but if the offense is putting up points who cares

in modern football you cant just have a smothering defense anymore. there will be a game or two a year where you'll need to score 42 plus to win.

But here’s the issue:

The point of an offense is NOT to just score points, it is to drain as much clock as possible while scoring points. (Assuming you aren’t losing by 2 scores without much time left)

A TD drive that takes 7 minutes is much more efficient than a TD drive that consists of 3 plays

Didn’t O and E say that their goal was to control the clock on offense? We all know how that worked out for them.

Why do you think a higher octane offense is just going to score quickly? A better offense doesn't equate to a Texas Tech air raid offense or an Oregan style quick strike offense. I mean I hate to give Alabama credit for anything, but their offense is scoring tons of points, moving the ball, and it's still a traditional style offense. I think for most Tiger fans a higher octane offense is one that isn't so predictable, scores touchdowns in the red zone, and looks to get our playmakers the ball in space.

This defense will be the best we have had since 2011 I trust Dave Aranda will do his thing. Not worried about the defense.

No. No, I do not. I’m not going to lose any sleep at all over actually scoring touchdowns a decent amount of the time in the red zone, instead of:
1st shite,
2nd crap,
3rd shite,
4th kick the field goal.

no This is just a stupid excuse used by idiots to maintain the status quo.

Look at Bama and Clemson

They have high powered offenses that score lots of points and play suffocating defense

The 2 are not mutually exclusive.

High octane offense?

Why don't we actually wait to see what they can do before we worry about this?
