The second was a weird choice for coverage, but he was beaten on it.

But...so what? Elite NFL corners get burned every Sunday by elite receivers and good throws. It happens. They win some...they lose some.

He is an excellent DB. He'll be fine.

Iron sharpens Iron.

This will make him better. I bet he will use it as motivation for the rest of the season and in preparation for next year. I see it as a good thing.

that last def play call?
put your players in the best position to defend the goalline.
Aranda hung the defensive players out on a limb.

outside of the 2 big plays, Smith had 5-63: good but not great. As you said, the first wasn't entirely his fault. The 2nd he looked like he was in about as good of coverage as can be expected: he was right with Smith. It was a perfect throw and then Stingley tripped. More often than not, that pass is either broken up or the player catches it as he's getting tackled.

It doesn’t matter how great a person is at any job. If you are put in a position to fail, you just may. After the first Smith touchdown, Stingley should not have been in press. He gave up some other passes, but so does 99% of all defensive backs. He has the mindset and the pedigree to fix the few things he needs to work on. Look for him to get at least three more picks before the season is over.

1 really. The 1st td was snapped while stingley wasnt looking.

I wasn't counting that play - that was a trick play for pussies.

He got beat down the sideline one play for like 35 yds. Then got beat on Bama's last offensive play.

The first one was a trick play, shite happens.

The second was bump and run with no safety over the top. Stingley wasn't in terrible position, but there's a reason that's almost never called at either level.

That Bama game will only make him stronger...besides, show me a better QB & set of receivers he will face!
