You can’t lose $160 if you only bet $100
The only thing you’re right about it that the betting odds do have LSU as a SLIGHT underdog (+128) to make the playoffs. Won’t be a big upset if we did. It’s very much up in the air if we make the playoffs or not based on Vegas odds.
Per OP if you bet $100 you win $128 if you bet on lsu to make the playoffs (total payout $228).

This is actually a year where I think we should say this team is going to go as far as the defense takes them.

Well, if they took the top 12 ranked teams they would, but they don’t. With these auto qualified “conference champion” BS they may not. Basically, six at large teams picked.

Initially I say no, but if we can show a strong defense vs USC, then I think we can def push for a spot

They should. 10 wins gets you in a 12 team playoff.
If lsu can’t win 10 regular season games in year 3 of BK then his tenure is a dud through 3 years

If LSU can put even a top 50 defense on the field, then I say we make it.
With our O-line, QB, and skill players, the offense should be one of the best in the country - top 10 for playoff teams for sure.

No. This team screams "we'll score 40 every game, but give up 50 in half of them".

There is no world where a 10-2 LSU with OOC games against 2 Big 10 teams doesn’t make the playoffs. I think people underestimate the effect adding 2 more teams to each league is gonna add to the cannibalization that already exists. Especially with 3 of those 4 teams being top 10 programs of all time (UCLA should suck this year, but they’re better than Southern).
10-2 going forward is not the same as it was previously. And a 10-2 LSU team would have gotten in a 12-team playoff most years anyway, if not all. The only thing that might be an issue is if there are multiple 10-2 teams and our losses just happened to have been to them and they have the tie breaker. But I think that’s very unlikely.

I think if defense is upper half sec good and we don’t have to build our offense around keeping defense fresh and off the field then we are in.
If we have to ground pound specifically to keep our defense off the field and are not able to
Stretch the opposing defenses and take our shots when they are open then I think we get left oit.
So we could be a year away if nuss stays, if nuss is gone next year and we need to break in a new offense and qb we could be 2 years away

This is likely to happen. Maybe not those 2 particular teams, but I think they lose a head scratcher. They should be really good and make the playoffs, but they are not going to be used to grind of an SEC schedule. It’s cumulative and wears on you. You get up 2 games in a row in October without a bye and beat Bama and Ole Miss (I’m not looking at their schedule, just a hypothetical), then come into another game against a physical team like Kentucky or Florida on the road and don’t bring your “A” game, and it’s easy to slip up.
